This is tearing a lot of people up inside. I agree that this shutdown cannot continue. Whether we agree or not we are in war right now with a unfortunate virus, but shutting down isn't the answer. Unfortunately in war there are always casualties. Think about this shutdown for a bit, how many people are having nervous breakdowns, over medicating, drinking, losing their businesses, or even committing suicide? These are all biproducts of shutting down. Tucking our tail and hiding is not the answer in my humble opinion. Our rights are being fractured. To me it all sucks! It's time to roll up our sleeves and get with the get on!! We gotta toughen up, too much give up these days. Come on, let's go!!! We're the U.S.A. for crying out loud!!!!

Agreed a million times over!! I wondered when level headed people would finally say ENOUGH! and you are starting to see that with protests across the country about this shut down.

I believe our President has done a fine job against all odds and against the opposition of many others who should be helping solve the issues instead of badgering a President who has done nothing but help and keep the whole country informed on a daily basis. Furthermore, he's listened to the Professionals very well and refers to them constantly. I usually don't talk politics being in business but this President has had to fight for everything from day one. I can tell you one fact for sure, my business has been much better in this administration than the previous and I know my employees have noticed it too as I've been able to be more generous with them:) So much false news out there it's ridiculous and unfortunately most of our youth cannot think for themselves. They only know what they see on mainstream media. Very sad. The phones and the media are a serious problem in this country. We need real thinkers and doers. NOT WATCHERS!!! Sorry for the soap box:) Thanks Bear, we need it! Our governor obviously has personal motives and is totally off of her rocker!! Sucks when you live in the UP and you have to deal with the politics of a lower peninsula which frankly may as well be a country away. Wish we were part of Wisconsin!

As a business owner I completely agree with your statement, as far as your gov... Im in Wisconsin we have our own quack we are dealing with.

T-bag? That's our President you are talking about. You ***. He shut down flights from China and was called a racist. A xenophobe. Quit watching the lamestream media. Maybe you will see the real story. It's us people in "fly over country" that feed and cloth this country and the world. You wanna mess with us??

People just don't get it slimcake, they need to turn off the news/media and look at the real timeline on how he responded, not what the left whacko's want you to believe. It is also so much easier to blame or say how different things should have been done after the fact because im sure the left would have done a much better job..... yeah right!, I don't think we could have a better person at the podium as we do now, ever since he took office. just think about how much better things could be if the left put as much effort into the country as they have and continue to try to dethrone him, not to mention the tax payers money wasted and continue to be by the left. If you want to blame someone, and I too believe their should be some accountability for this, it doesn't start on our soil, both China and the WHO are who are responsible. "T bag"??? Get real!

Republicans blaming Obama for everything is just the same as Democrats blaming Trump for everything...it’s on old and boring commentary that has happened for as long as politics has been around. People aren’t disciplined or open enough to think for themselves and only believe what their party tells them....pretty low level thinking processes. I guess I was always taught to ummmmm, think for myself, be skeptical and source info from multiple areas.
I made a lot of money in stocks under Obama and a lot under Trump. I always told people, and I may be wrong, the last 10 years has been some of the best (stock) was markets we will see for awhile, it can’t last forever.
As for this stimulus, it shocks me (it really shouldn’t) how many people fall into financial ruin after one missed paycheck or even two. Where’s the financial discipline? And all these posts about people clamoring to now buy made in USA products .....ummm, we should have been doing that for a long time.
All of this political/economic/ blah blah stuff ticks me off.....work for the benefit of our fellow man and we will be fine.....ahhh, a nice quarantine rant feels good.

Can't say I disagree with anything you've said durphee. That being said, I'll say it again, my business and employees are much better off with this administration. Actually, if people were more like dogs we would be in a much better place:)

I agree with everything you said durphee. It's staggering how many folks will only drink a specific color of punch. It is their given right here in the USA, but just does not make sense to me. Thanks for this post.

I also agree with Durphee and John. Truth and integrity have been absent in politics, media, and in general society for some time now. It's about winning at all costs....Pretty shameful!

While I cannot disagree with some opinions here we still need to proceed with caution. I don't think the whole truth is out on this virus but I also don't think it is a hoax yet so I will still be cautious in my travels and limiting social interaction.

and how do they justify giving someone who was already on unemplyment or only making $362 a week anyway (which was michigans max unemployment) an ADDITIONAL $600 A WEEK?!!!!
I can understand increasing it to $950 for someone who was told to go on unemployment and made more but to give it to everyone doesnt make sense!
My son is going to more that double his weekly salary on unemployment!!!
Dont get me started that they gave themselves a RAISE when the passed the stimulas, greedy mf'rs! :(

Doesn't Bill Gates own the plant in China that created this issue? Didn't he also predict something like this last fall? I'm not saying this as fact, I'm saying it because I'm not sure of it, and wondering if anyone else has evidence of this.

I can top your sons story. My son, who's a senior in HS, worked for a business here that had to shut down. He worked maybe 16 hrs/week. He applied for unemployment and is getting $83/week from the state and the additional $600. He's never made $683 in two weeks, now he's getting it every week to stay home from school and play xbox.
My daughter, she's a freshman at UW, had a on campus job working for UW working 7 hrs/week. When they went all on-line she lost her job so she applied for unemployment and now she's getting $780/week. So just in our household we have an extra $5800/month coming in. I wish they'd share with us but thats another story.

I feel bad about it but they met the quailifications. My son will do exactly what they want people to do, he'll spend every cent while my daughter is saving hers for next years tuition (which I do appreciate!) I think they were in such a hurry to pass this bill they just didn't realize all of the ramifications of it. I told my kids to enjoy it now as they are going to be paying for it for the rest of their lives.

It would have been SO EASY to make it:
Up to an additional $600. Not to exceed the persons employed wage. I would have also added: max benefit to only be 90% or 85% of their employed wage. Just so that they were getting just a bit less on UI, so the incentive to go back to work.

I think I posted my idea on this in another thread, that touched on this issue.
As I said there, I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed. (Or meant to)

Not to mention that those that weren't working before this crap started just didn't want to work because there was more jobs than there was people and now we just gave more incentive not to.

Totally.
NY's at like May 15th and Wis who has 80% less cases and death's is at May 26.
Unreal.
There will be no amount of money the government tries to ram down peoples necks that will make them whole again when this ordeal is over.

Gov A. Hole just extended our order until May 26th WHAT A JOKE!!!
