Has the Fat Lady begun to sing?

Sadly with what the next 10 days weather forecasts look like, it is going to be really hard to recover from this extended thaw. Giant water holes will now appear, and create havoc as to future grooming. Sucks, just as the Flu.

I fully expect several "nuisance snows" and probably a storm or two. But as the low areas flood, we can hang it up for another year.
I'm not happy about it but for some reason, this year I'm more accepting of another short season for riding.
Coming up, the High School Tournaments and other seasonal stuff. We just booked a vacation in April, and we'll be catching up on some projects around the house. Moving on!

Think she more than beginning to sing..she’s starting the second chorus! Over before it even started for a lot of counties. What a bummer.

Yeah, just as the Flu, it makes one feel like chit! Flu weather.

Unfortunately, it seems she's definitely warming up her pipes. Time will tell I guess. At least this year I got 2 days in vs just one last season. Fingers crossed a better season will come next year. Got spoiled a few years ago with at least 3 good ones in a row. I'm too old to chase snow like I used to. Hopefully, a trip out west is on the bucket list though, too.

Riding till June in the mountains. :) Headed out to The Big Horns later this week, then capping off the season with a trip to Togwotee over Spring Break.
I been to togwotee a couple times and rented mountain sleds there. Been to snowies a couple times and took 137 trail sleds. Can you ride trail sleds at the big horns? Renting isn't in the budget these days. Was thinking about a mid-march trip and I'm not sure the midwest weather is going to cooperate. Perhaps Ontario. Snowies was fun but both times it was hard to find snow that wasn't all tracked up, so I was wondering where else we could take our trail sleds and ride. For me the trail sleds do ok out there with the sway bar disconnected and the coupling blocks out.

She is definitely singing....the chances these trails reopen are less than 50/50 at this point....just another bad year (though better than last year)

Yeah the Big Horns will work Hoosier. 22 years ago my friends favorite spot in the west. He never had anything but Poo, and then Doo trail sleds, converted to 136" tracks. We always got along fine with trail sleds out there in March. However, don't loose site of Ontario, and hope for colder weather! I dearly love to ride the big mile wilderness areas of Ontario! Always my Favorite. Good luck.

Thanks for the input. My FIL used to go out there I think with Poos extended to 136. Ontario had a lot of snow a few days ago. I don't think I ever saw so many trails open at once on the website map, especially some of the areas that don't often open. The great northern loop was open so I've had my mind set on that. Not sure how bad the warm front has impacted them. We wouldn't go up on the 15th, so anything can happen between now and then. Hard to coordinate schedules with all the kid and work stuff...

Currently here in the Keweenaw, we have the potential for some wet heavy snow with a clipper passing on Friday, 4-6" in Houghton County possible with 7-9" possible in Keweenaw County. Keep in mind, groomers have been stagnant here since Monday in order to preserve the base due to the 40 degree temps we've seen all week. Temps on Sat are suppose to drop into the teens & remain that way through Sunday. This will be a nice freshening for the Copper Dog 150 sled dog race here this week-end. Forecasted temps for Mon & Tues look to be back to 40 with 30's the remainder of the week. I think the singing has begun.

Awoke to about 3" this morning with 27 degrees. Temp has now warmed to 32 with a mix of wet snow & occasional drizzle mixed in. Temps are expected to drop this afternoon with winds gearing up & gusting to near 40 mph. LES is a possibility late this afternoon into tonight.
