Site down for the entire day for me yesterday. Its Saturday 1/10 and currently 25 degrees. Accuweather is still saying we will get 2-4" through tonight but I have my doubts. Went down to Rhinelander yesterday and this report is visual from MW to Rhinelander along HWY 51 and HWY 47. Everything looked really good even after the rain/ice we had on Thursday night, I think it actually put a nice coating on the snow to preserve it. The trails looked good to excellent in spots even near road crossings they were good. By the time we got back to MW the sun was out so there was some melting but everything still looked good. No one is grooming yet but I expect that will start when it gets colder next week. Two warmer days this coming Monday 34, and Tuesday 35 degrees and then 20's and into teens from there, I believe the base is very good up here and cloudy days have saved us from losing decent riding conditions. Ride Safe!

Good to hear. I'm taking my kids up that direction (more towards phelps/conover). With all their sports etc we haven't been up in the winter in several years. We mostly ride in a wooded area off the trails so I assume it will all be fine, but I was worried about the warm up.

Took a ride today, met my buddy in MW and we headed north on 19a up to 17n. Very nice trails, west on 13b at Pine Lake and other than about a mile of bad bumps again all nice and some freshly groomed. Headed west and over to Bear Chasers on Island lake for lunch, if you are in the area, highly recommend, great sandwiches and burgers, fries are awesome and healthy portions. Headed back about 1pm, got turned around and instead over heading east on Island lake road, headed west and got almost to Iron belt before figured it out, had to backtrack and then headed back to MW. 110 miles of nice riding, trail are excellent but will be worn down as heavy traffic was beginning by the time we got back. Couple of pics, tucked 900 Ace back in the heated garage about 4:30pm and called it a day. Light snow all weekend so it will be good riding for the foreseeable future. My wife and I are coming up tomorrow, staying until Tues. I tried not bringing up the temps for Monday, but she found out... I told her if we survived last year's MLK day in Houghton riding, Vilas trails will be warmer then the rails....:) Those negative temps are typical for that day! Gauntlets and boot warmers are being used that day! Happy wife, happy life!

Just take frequent breaks to warm up, not the coldest temps we had but Mondays high will 1 above, cold is here to stay and with a fresh 8" the trails will set up nice with night grooming.

10" total here in MW and Boulder Junction so far today. Plow guys are running out of room to put it.
Very nice! sounded like trails were in much need of refreshing snows up there, and with cold setting in grooms should set up tight as well, weekend traffic might me a bit much with MLK and derby weekend but at least we wont be dealing with warm temps so conditions should hold and next week should be great! see you on Monday!

Brian, trails were really good before we received the 10", we had been getting an inch or two every other day. It's the best since 2023 in my opinion. If it stays cold this will go until Mid March. See you Monday.

Yup, ride reasonable, give her nice evenings, and cook her breakfast, eh! Bingo!

We didn't get into Mercer untill 1:30 yesterday. Rode from Mercer to Gooch's, down to Sayner to meet some friends. Trails around BJ were pretty beat up, but the norm for Saturday evening. Trails were better heading down to Arbor, then made a bunch of loops around St. Germain. We didn't get back till midnight, but logged 150 miles👍 Too good to stop.. Groomers were already out that evening, & made the 51N to MW pretty decent. We had fresh ribbon for a good clip. Pic was @ 8pm, on 51S just east of M. Rode mostly Iron county today, but will be out in Vilas tomorrow.

Was up this weekend, put on around just under 300 miles in 3 days of riding. Trails were pretty crowded but other than close to towns were very good all in all. But to be fair my favorite type of trail is just a bit road. Great to see the establishments packed, never once minded waiting for service. First day was from SG up to Boulder, PI over to MW down to SLO’s and back to SG. Second day was south down to almost Sugar Camp over to Lake Tom, third day up to Burnt bridge then hopped around SG area. All in all very good trip, plenty of snow! The gas station in SG Saturday morning was 4-5 deep at every pump, crazy!

Traffic was pretty light yesterday. We rode down to MW, up to PI & some other loops. PI trails were 10/10! First time stopping at Howling Dog. Nice place! Wife kept warm👍 Great couple days of riding. Currently -17F, so I couldn't talk my wife into 1 more quick ride this morning..Looks even colder heading into the weekend.
