    New truck options

I switched to a 2500 to pull my trailer a few years back. I would never go back to pulling a fully loaded enclosed trailer in the UP winter with a 1500. it’s probably just my personal preference but I feel substantially safer with the 2500. I did not go with a diesel because I couldn’t...

    83 Beers

After downing the 83 beers, I couldn’t finish the calculations. Will try again tomorrow . . .

    It’s not over!

We rode yesterday from the first trailhead up Hwy 77 about 5 miles out of Seney. Rode to Newberry first. I was surprised by the number of sleds we saw heading out of there (probably to Pine Stump and Grand Marias). Headed to T Falls where we learned the trail through Paradise was closed due...

    It’s not over!

Thanks for the detailed report Indy. I was considering some options for tomorrow. Booked rooms for tonight in Seney. We plan to head east to T Falls then north to GM. Can't wait!

    TIME TO CALL IT ?

I saw some pictures from the eastern UP today (Munising, Tahquamenon, Newberry). It appears they are grooming and there is riding to be had. Any reports from folks in those areas?

How many folks are taking the money they are not spending and saving for a side by side??

My advice is to check on the deals right now, if you are looking new. Inventory will only go down, and I doubt the discounts will go up. Used is probably a different story.

What trip(s) have you cancelled so far?

I just cancelled our trip to Michigamme for this coming weekend. It’s rescheduled to the weekend of 3/15, hoping for a return of winter. In the process of cancelling a trip to Seney for the weekend of 2/16. Just trying to negotiate with the rental to possibly reschedule for next year. I did...

How many folks are taking the money they are not spending and saving for a side by side??

I did end up getting a 2024 ZR600 Catalyst in the 137 skid. I couldn’t find it at any local dealers but Country Cat had one left. Discounted to $13,500, from $16,600. (A similar sled at Ken’s in the 129 skid was discounted to $15,300.). I will be making a trip to Minnesota this week to pick...

How many folks are taking the money they are not spending and saving for a side by side??

Not me. I doubled down and bought a new 2024 leftover at a nice discount. I’m hoping winter returns yet this year, and back to normal next year. I had planned to buy a sled in the next year or so anyway and couldn’t pass on the price of a 2024.

Suggestions on track length 129 vs 137

Are you implying that the 137 coupled would be better with the 2 up? Thanks!

Suggestions on track length 129 vs 137

I am considering purchasing a 2024 leftover sled for trail riding. The discounts are favorable right now so I may need to pull the trigger quickly. This sled would be used to introduce grandkids to trail riding, so a 2 up seat would be added. I would appreciate thoughts on buying a 129” vs...

Thought I broke a belt running at 95 but didn't...

I had a 2013 XF1100. We rode to dinner one evening and had to cross some slushy ice. Next morning while driving about 30 mph a mile from camp, I pushed a chunk of ice up into the tunnel. It locked up the track at first the pushed through. A god awful noise so I shut down. I immediately...

    Catalyst ride reports

The article contains market share data that’s quite a bit different than the numbers thrown around here. It shouldn’t be that much of a mystery since registrations indicate the brand of each sled. I would think that using state registrations would be one way of measuring market share without...

    Catalyst ride reports

A couple of years ago, Composite stated that Ski-Doo’s market share was about 50%, Poo was 33%, AC was 15%, and Yamaha was 5%. I have no idea where they get their numbers...
