Looks like most of Vilas has called it quits but the far northern part is holding on for some reason. From what I saw yesterday they should all call it a season. They had good year but it's time to shut it down.

Well a lot of good conversation going on. This is what this site is all about. As far as the SxS thing goes while I like the trail pass idea there are more places then not that all you can do is run roads. That is why I was told they are called routes and not trails. I think it would benefit...

You would think there is a chance but man that sun is doing its thing. Even up there the snow has shrunk down a lot.

Yes I believe this is the issue. They were hoping for more participation but definitely hasn't been the case except in rare instances like in Mercer and Boulder in December after the big storm

It's too bad the warm temps didn't hold off until after the weekend. Trails were in really good shape. I think they might have a decent amount of people riding spending some money. I know the Northwoods rest hotel in St.Germain had a decent amount of sledders Friday night was empty on Saturday...

I believe Michigan trail permit is going to be between $62-65 next year. I heard $65 is going to be the number. I also heard from a couple of club members that the $10 trail permit if your a club member and have Wi. registration isn't working out like they hoped. What have you heard Attackman

Indy I heard it was pretty crazy with all the sleds. Funny how a lot of people call it a season then they hear about 4' snowfall totals and they drag there iron back out. We rode in the upper Kee today and it must of been busy up that way to. Trails were pretty choppy but better in the afternoon...

Yes Minocqua has become the Dells of the north. We have talked of selling here in St.Germain and finding something in forest county or maybe go more west to get away from the crowds. We do like it here a lot but it's lost its charm with all the people that are here now. I can remember not long...

Glad you got out for a last ride Paul. Trails look excellent. That's the kind of last ride you remember through the summer and brings you back for more next season.

What makes a "good run snowmobile club"?

Well said in the future of the sport but I think a club that makes you feel welcomed and really seems to appreciate those that do help even if it is not much compared to the hours they put in. The 2 clubs we help are very welcoming and just really good folks and always seem to appreciate are...

The wife and I personally belong to 3 clubs in Vilas. We use to belong to just one in the the town we have our weekend home. We tried to help them brush trails but they weren't very welcoming, very clicky is the best way to describe it. We are still members but don't participate in any trail...

    Vilas County

Well for those who are wondering and hopefully a few on here were finding out trails in Vilas were pretty good yesterday. That March sun is taking is taking it's toll. Roads that were ok in the morning were not in the afternoon, typical of March riding. We rode St.Germain,Sayner,Star lake, land...

Next few weeks of the season...

Yeah kind of funny being on jd Snow Central and hearing people complain about snow. If I had to guess some of the biggest snows in the Northwoods happen in March. The atmosphere normally has a lot more moisture to work with in March and the average temperature is still in the 30's. We are...

Mezz weren't you up there I believe it was April of 2008 when they got hammered with snow for 3 days. If I remember correctly the snow was pretty much wiped out then the higher areas got close to 80" or so.
