Ken and I always carried jumpers for our apex only jumped once sled to sled when his stator went out. We got his going jumped from mine but stator was catastrophic failure but got him home. That gave me religion purchased a power pak always carry now just incase. I would say at minimum carry...
Thanks for all you do Jim. Better to do a good job now clearing debris than leave nasty surprises under the snow or side of trail that will cause problems later. Rather be safe than sorry 👍👍👍
Oh yeah us woodcutters understand how hard this work is not for out of shape people. One can only do so much and you burn out so stay hydrated. For me I did well in cold temps kept my heart rate down usually ended up with just a poly undershirt and a thick turtleneck with firehose lined pants...
I think the problem is no way to get to work sights and groomers can’t get thru either. Someone has to supervise tree removal know where to dump logs and branches. I think clubs will go out on sleds if not too deep see a downed tree and work on it. If too deep best to take the groomer out to...
Power out all day in Phelps too I expected it with these winds and typical of storms of November. Nice to have early snow but Vilas always holds for deer black powder season. SE WI supposed to get powder snow all day Saturday into Sunday maybe 10” and I know my club was scheduled to put Trails...
Easy to see one of those streams on 2 or 3 getting dammed and flooding the trail. Trail 2 east is so nice with streams running on both sides of the trail one of my favs. They don’t call it Watersmeet for nothing.
What can anyone say “The Storms Of November” I remember them well and no power in Phelps all one can do is hunker down and have a pile of firewood good to go. Snow so wet it’s a nightmare to move then having to remove downed trees always a fun time. 🤷♂️
Have to start building a base asap so right on time imo. Looks like cold coming in after Les event so that’s good just don’t know without Dee forecast how long the cold will last. Time will tell…..
Our club had been discussing increasing trail , grooming , maintenance and management costs for years so we knew an increase was coming across the board. It was a matter of when and how much and now it’s here. As said join a club be in the know.
