Time for a New Helmet?

Can’t believe we’ve made it this far down on a helmet post without talking about the Ckx mission, the best helmet on the market.
Does the mission have that fighter pilot snot mop thing? or is it like the oxygen? I will never go back to having those.

It has the snot rubber piece. It's definitely sounds like a nice helmet but I am with you I don't like some rubber piece stuck to my face all day. Probably one of my favorite things about the oxygen. I don't wear anything but a light weight neck warmer and a lot of space in the helmet.

Not completely a snot rubber piece like the older Doo helmets. More like a skirt that goes over just your nose area.

I tried the helmet on at the Milwaukee snow show some years ago after it first came out. Definitely nice helmet as a lot of people seem to really like it. The oxygen helmet seems to have a love hate relationship. There are a more than a few of us who have the oxygen helmet and we are all happy with it. I love the view out the shield and not needing to wear anything on my head even at -20. Yes you need to be plugged in all the time which I know is not for everyone but I love the rear light on the helmet so being plugged in doesn't bother me at all. Glad you like your mission indy there are a lot of you that do.

with oxygen, the view, the fit, and the fact that there are no breath deflectors all selling factors that sold me. would recommend carrying an extra helmet cables because when its not working.... it fogs/frosts up FAST!!

I do that but thank God I've never needed it.

and I agree with everything you said about the helmet. For me, I could try them on at the doo dealer in town. I had no idea where to go for the mission. the Mission definitely looks cool though.

I bought a Z1R helmet about 3 years ago. Very happy with it, although it gets considerably less use than most of yours. I've never been one to go with the grain. So, when most people are buying Klim, Castle, etc, I'm buying HJC, Z1R and others. Always have been happy with my accessories, without paying top dollar. I may add the Pro Motor Sports near Wausau, WI has been my main go to place . Always good products at a fair price. It's the only place I've ever bought a helmet.
Yep...My Z1R Solaris is a great inexpensive helmet...

Dennis Kirk lets to try on helmets and send them back at N.C. if swapping for another one. Or if you are like me at the top of the size chart then they do a full refund.

If I had to describe the fit of the Mission, I would say it is more round head shape but not quite fully round but not tight to you nose and mouth. Ski-Doo helmets have alway felt more oval shape but tighter on the front of the face, like a motocross helmet with the front being narrow but also pushed close to you nose and mouth. (They have never felt comfortable to me. Always want them but never worked out.)

My CAT TXI felt perfect maybe even a little big, but had lots of issues.

My Castle X EXO-950 was tight but fit good enough to use for 5 years.

The Mission feels the best out of all of them! Until having the Mission I alway want to go back to my TXI and deal with the problems because the fit was more comfortable... If it would have been modular, I probably would have gone back.

At some point I tried the FXR X1, it was ok. felt to narrow in the front by the jaw.

All were 3XL but in the Mission I put cheek pads that are 4XL inside. No complaints and like the way it opens even better than the normal modular style.
