Thank you both for your input on these and will likely be the ones I go with, no wheelies or jumps for this guy LOL. It just makes a lot of sense to me to locate them there and I am not very fond of attaching anything to the rails. Thank you again!!

It's Thursday, January 8th, 36 degrees, was supposed to be 38 today and sunny but it's foggy. I did not ride today but had to go over to Boulder Junction and into MW. The trails look very good from the road even after a couple of warm days this week. Supposed to start snowing around 8pm tonight and maybe we get 2-4" of snow. It cools off after today and more snow chances on Saturday so I think we have weathered this little warm up pretty well. No grooming for the last few days and probably won't start until it starts getting colder at night (maybe this weekend?) Ride while you can, it hasn't been this good in a few years!
talking another 3 to 6" Saturday into early Sunday too I thought I had read
They backed way off that now only 1-2 inches of snow Saturday....and maybe an inch or two tonight..but it's 35 degrees and supposed to start raining this evening....these last 3 days have been brutal...slush, and slop everywhere, and snow melting....probably won't ride for the next week unless we get snow and some cold...the lakes are gonna be awful for awhiletalking another 3 to 6" Saturday into early Sunday too I thought I had read

Well, we got about 2 hours of rain last night, Accuweather showed us getting heavy snow last night and they were totally off their game, still a lot of snow on the ground, supposed to get 3-6" starting Saturday morning. I have to go to Rhinelander today so i'll report back later on what things look like on the way down and back. If we get the 3-6" should be back to really good but we seem to stuck in a warm pattern as it will be 34 and 33 next Monday/Tuesday. It then cools off HOPEFULLY!

So here is my report from Hanks Gresham lodge. Trails have plenty of snow. The big difference is now the snow is much more sugary now and the groom is not holding up like it did last week. We could use a 4" inch wet snowfall to glue it all back together. Very rideable and after the last 2 seasons I will take what we get. The areas that typically gets snirty are now snirty. Some of the corners are getting washed out the normal wear and tear but overall very rideable.

So the trails are better today the groom actually took and trails are flat. The 1st pic is some Boben goodness the 2nd one is some sugar camp goodness. Love to show some eagle river goodness but they are not as flat. Knew the second we got off of Boben trails also knew the second we were in sugar camp trails.

Hermie, surprised we didn’t cross paths again as it sounds like we rode a lot of the same trails today! Left the house at 4:45 and went up to three lakes. Grabbed my cousin on the way and the 4 of us (the woman and my dad) probably didn’t take off on the sleds until 7:45 after gearing up. Took the northern trek west to Sugar camp and then shot straight north to hwy 70. Three lakes portion was chopped, sugar camp great, and eagle rivers section of that was awful, especially when we headed west along 70. Eventually started heading north, on some bo boen trails and it was great, until we got on the barnstormers trails. I think the groomer drivers had too many cold ones at the brat fry on Saturday because boy oh boy their entire trail system was torched and untouched Saturday night. Got up to star lake and then headed west and then up to Boulder for lunch. Everything west of star lake was freshly groomed. Boulder was turning to sugar and couldn’t hold a groom even though there was less than 10 sleds on a fresh groom, just couldn’t hold together. Shot straight south after lunch along the west side of Sayner and shot down thru st g. The in town trails were roached as well thru St G. Some Bo boen trails were great today some not so great, they groomed everything in their system overnight but the high traffic areas turned to snirty sugar and couldnt hold a groom. After St G we crossed the river and boy oh boy, we rode the next 30ish miles on sugar camps trails and WHAT A TREAT! 10/10. All in all 135 miles and a total mixed bag. 1/3 of what we rode was a 10/10, 1/3 of what we ride was a 6/10, and 1/3 of what we rode was a 2/10z
Now the really bad, at about 4:30pm in antigo I discovered I torched a trailer bearing on the way home. (Thanks to the guy in the snowmobile hall of fame hat who flagged me down at a stop light because he saw sparks) As I type it’s after 11 and I just finally got home. I picked up bearings and a hub from fleet farm before they closed but the axle nut is seized up good so I couldn’t repair. Got all 4 sleds home, and going to head back up and try to repair myself with more tools tomorrow. If I can’t repair I’ll likely have to call a tow truck. Other bad news, it’s in the middle of that not so great town, but, it’s not like it can go anywhere!!
