So.......I started a project, My new Garage!

Tim, I bought an expensive ($2,800) 8ft tall, 16 ft wide R-19 insulated door from Menards, Ideal Brand. We put the door in ourselves, it pretty much took us all day but I am not an experienced Garage door installer, well, maybe now I am. Up here, you learn to do alot of things yourself, I...

So.......I started a project, My new Garage!

I did, but everything moved really fast this Spring and getting trusses on order and delivered was the first thing on my mind. Structurely I think this is best for my situation. Also an attic is a catch all for collecting things and I don't want to be emptying it out 10 years from now so that...

So.......I started a project, My new Garage!

Looks like the last time I posted pics was on 10/17. I have enclosed everything in and have house wrap on pretty much everything except a couple small areas because I ran out. Took a trip to Menards today and picked up some supplies, insulation, house wrap, a new window for the lower level that...

So.......I started a project, My new Garage!

thanks, Vilas County was so simple, just go over the Public Works building in Eagle River, I would call ahead and make sure the guy is there and can see you and it takes about 20 minutes after a few questions. Town of Manitowish was just a simple, each town has it's codes so take time to look...

Very true, I could clean up here. But I'm entering retirement so no interested in that. So many don't have a clue how to be succesful. Follow up is the key to any profession in my opinion first and foremost.

NWS Duluth (MN) office has released 2023/2024 Winter Outlook for Upper Midwest

Saw on the Rhinelander News today that Dec, Jan, Feb calls for above average temps and below average precipitation. We'll see, not a believer until I see it.

So.......I started a project, My new Garage!

picbn, I had to chuckle at that! PI is not that far away but I am taking some time off after this massive project. I was thinking this morning as it was raining how nice the dry garage was while I was working on my snowmobile trailer. It's a rain day here and I'm able to work inside doing some...

    It's Almost Mid-Summer, How's Fishing?

Very nice Skiroule! Good looking fish, I hope to get out a little bit next week when my high school buddies come visit for the annual fall fishing trip. And yes, sometimes things get in the way of fishing but I have enjoyed the garage odessey. The boat is still in the water!!!!!

Jim, you are so correct, people on MW just pay whatever it takes, money is no option. And Tuck, handyman work is really easy to come by, I watch 3 homes for people who head to Florida for the winter on our road. You could make it a full time job if you want, I just do it for something to do and...

So.......I started a project, My new Garage!

About 90% dried in totally, roof work done thank God. Made some great progress on the exterior this weekend and the last couple days, my lovely wife helped me sheath the lake side and we wrapped it with Block-it house wrap. The upstairs just needs windows put in and west side facing the woods is...

I bought my place in 2015 for $300K, didn't want to pay that but realized that if we were ever going to get on the Manitowish Chain it was now or never so we signed, had the place inspected, and everything turned out awesome. We did walk through the house prior to buying, it needed new septic...

Tuck, you hit the nail on the head as far as the current market conditions right now. I personally would not buy a house sight unseen but many people do it or set terms like, inspection, if things found needing to fixed the seller and the buyer agree to the terms and amounts. Not sure if you are...

Epoxy floors have a ton of harmful chemicals in them, you don't want to be breathing in that stuff. Epoxy has it's place but the trend is for sustainable flooring that can be recycled after it's life has come to an end. Check out www.Duracryl.com and click on US version, our parent company is...

It really depends on the level of inventory on the market, for instance, in the MW area there is hardly anything available so prices are high and I think they always will be because property on the Manitowish Chain is always in demand. I think the Mercer area is a good place to start looking and...
