    Arctic Cat layoffs etc.

More than good friends the founder of Cat was one of the three who originally founded Polaris and a brother to one of them. Edgar and Allen Hetteen.

    Arctic Cat layoffs etc.

Just saw that also. Sounds like after they build whatever they have for 1st qtr requirements they will be closing the doors unless a buyer can be found. Bummer.

What year did you sign-up on the John's Site?

I'm thinking late 90's. I remember a trip in 2000 when we used KSE for our guide service

    Arctic Cat layoffs etc.

Its a bit ironic if you think of Textron's history in the powersports market. Bought Polaris way back in the late 60's, ran it into the ground and was looking to sell it when times got tough in the early 80's. Polaris management bought it from Textron, took it private at first and then public...

    Arctic Cat layoffs etc.

My bad, I saw that and wondered why they'd sell Sea Doo as it seems like a market leader. The marine business is another crazy overpriced business. Prices for new boats, pontoons, etc... are nuts. $200K for a ski/wake boat, $100+ for a pontoon. I saw a Bennington pontoon advertised on...

    Arctic Cat layoffs etc.

Every powersports manufacturer is struggling right now and letting people go. I listen in to the Polaris earnings call and they've reduced salaried headcount by 5%, along with hourly reductions. BRP is selling off Sea Doo. Huge incentives to buy 1-2 yr old models, reduced 2025 build schedule to...

    Finally, a garage

Yes it is. I was a little concerned also about it fitting because in a pole building style 24' deep is really only 22'9" deep and then the garage door takes up a couple more inches. If your garage is a stick built it'll fit with no issue. I think according to Ford specs a F350, and I'd assume a...

    Finally, a garage

Its not very big, just 24x36. Funny enough its the same footprint as the cabin. Would've liked to go bigger but my wife kept reminding me this is just the cabin and not our long term destination. So once we figure out where the long term destination is it'll be perfect size for a cabin. And when...

    Finally, a garage

Well, since we moved fulltime to the cabin one of my plans was to build a garage. Started clearing the spot in July but due to permit issues couldn't actually get the guy in to do the site prep until early Sept and then had concrete poured mid Sept and had the material delivered late Sept. Six...

What Will You Be Riding this Winter

Been looking hard at some leftover 2024 Polaris Khaos 850 146"s and there are some great prices on them right now. But think I'll stick with the 2021 SKS 850. I really wish they still made this model because its the perfect sled for me. But if rebates get better I still may go get a left over.

    Around superior bag trip

There's a good trail system from Superior to Duluth but it's a long route around. You end up out west of Duluth in Carlton and then can start heading east from there. I've heard there's not much for trails between Grand Portage, MN and Thunder Bay.

    Northern lights last 2 nights

They were amazing last night up the north shore also. Just dancing in the sky.

    Fall Colors!

I don't have pictures but the colors on the north shore are probably about peak right now. The problem with that is so are the tourists. There had to be 250-300 cars at the trailhead to Bean and Bear Lake in Silver Bay. The hiking trail would be as crowded as a NYC sidewalk. Up at Lutsen they...

getting ready to close up for season

Weather was great and had a great weekend, except for the game. Can't spot them 28 points, miss two field goals, and still expect to win. But we made it exciting at the end. Ran up to Egg Harbor and Fish Creek on Saturday, very busy still with apples being in season. Had some wine samples...

    Homeless finally!

So a big part of our decision to build our cabin where we did is everybody else on our road (all 7 of them) are full time residents. And one is the plow driver for our township so we get plowed out quickly. But as I always say, when there's only 10 miles of roads in the township everybody gets...
