Lake Effect snowbelts - Canada side of Lake Superior

John, Your lake effect snowbelt map shows where lake effect snow typically hits in Michigan - generally the West and South of Lake Superior and Lake Michigan. Is the land in Canada on the Eastern shore of Lake Superior a lake effect snowbelt as well?

Black Friday sales for sled gear?

Any good black Friday sales for sled gear? I got an email from First Place Parts - that's the 1st one I've seen. I'm not one to physically shop that day but will look online.

Sled repair/maintenance NW Indiana/South of Chicago

Thinking about finding someone to do some preseason work on my sled (Polaris) - mainly go through the carbs and change the drivetrain bearings. It's work I could do but might not have time this year. Sled is parked in Illinois near the Indiana border so it would be good to find someone near...

    Sled sales

Got a snowest in the mail today. Article about sled sales. Surprised how much they have dropped off over the past 15 years, even in the West. Maybe I shouldn't be. Last time 100K units were sold in the US was 2005, and I wouldn't be surprised with this past winter if it's under 50K this year.k...

Polaris 600 - bolt on secondary clutch

How long is the bolt that holds on the secondary? I ordered one since mine was getting round edges. It came in the mail today, and it's about 2" long. Does that seem right? I thought it was longer than that. My sled is stored in a garage a couple hours from me, so I can't check easy. Thanks.

What's on 05 Doo mxz 600 ho worth? 3600 miles

Have an acquaintance selling one and might be a good deal. I've never considered a Doo before, but if the price is right... Sled is studded. Not sure if that impacts the price.

    trailer maintenance for new trailer

Guys I ride with bought a new, leftover 23' Legend inline trailer last Fall. It wasn't cheap but the price wasn't bad since it was a year old model. I'm going in on it too over time but they had money now and I didn't... Anyway, I wanted to get some input on what maintenance needs to be done to...

    American Council of Snowmobile Associations

http://www.snowmobilers.org/ Anyone familiar with this group? I saw the link on a MSA newsletter, which is the first I heard of it. I support this Blue Ribbon Coalition, which also lobbies for recreational access, but this is focused just on snowmobiling.

Tools you carry on your sled??

As the title says, what tools do you carry on your sled? I usually scurry around the garage the night before a trip throwing together some basics that I think I might need, and occurred to me it might be smarter to put together a list and keep those tools together. Most of our trips involve...

Pouring mineral oil in cylinders for summer storage

I've seen some guys on here or somewhere else say they pour some mineral oil in the cylinders after fogging their sleds and then pull the cord slowly a couple times to get it through the engine based on the premise that the synthetic oil they run doesn't coat the internals as well for the off...

    issues with cat 600

Has Cat had any issues with its new 6? I haven't heard of many but maybe there aren't many yet with miles on them, plus there seem to be more 800's out there

    Questions about current Poo 600

So, I'm keep looking at these Indy 600's. I have a couple questions about the current 600: 1. Oil usage - seems like they run lean. Can you turn up the oil pump on these? Should you? What's the right ratio if you want the engine to last? I understand they are set up for the EPA. 2. Fuel...

Looks like no stretched Indy for 2016.....

Was hoping for a Indy 600 136 or 144. Not sure why they won't make one other than it may take sales away from the axis.

Selling a home - realtor vs FSBO

Wife and I are thinking about selling our house. Bought it a couple years back and now have some extra recurring expenses with the kids, etc. that we didn't count on and are now wishing we would have bought something at a lower price point. Rates are back down again now so tossing around the...

    Yet another boot thread

If you see any end of season deals on boots, post them here. My RU Outside boots started self-destructing on my last trip. They may be good for another trip or two but I'm keeping an eye out now.

    Indy vs IQ chassis

How much difference is there between the Indy and the IQ chassis? I am probably a year away from upgrading but tempted by the deals I see on the Indy's. I think the rear suspension and the motor (600) are similar. Is the front suspension much different? I haven't even sat on an Indy yet - is...

Too cold for jetting??? Polaris 600's

We have two Polaris 600 HO's in our group, 1 06 Fusion and 1 07 IQ. Both are jetted with 410's with the SLP air horns. This is supposedly good down to -10 (420's are good to -20 and 400's are good down to 0, and I don't think the air horn kit makes much of a difference on jetting). We did...
