We will blow thru Thanksgiving quickly and I'm thankful for the good traveling weather this week....BUT... We need groomable snow SOON in Vilas and the UP!! Next 10 plus days look boring for snow & LES so I'm starting to look for that big system snow dumper....don't see it so far.

Lakes are starting to seal up very surprising this week. I saw a few ice chunks floating then a very cold calm night and the lake sealed tight and now has snow cover as well. Swamps and trail wet spots getting what they need too. All in all very encouraging for early November. :)

Snowmobile injuries came up on another thread & it got me to thinking which type of riding is really more dangerous powder or groomed trail. Living in northern WI I hear about trail riding injuries and death by snowmobile on the news all the time on in both WI and MI. Off trail incidents grabs...

I tried to purchase online a non resident MI Snomo Trail Permit from the MI DNR website but was directed to MSA website for online permit. Cost $50 total with $2.00 for handling. Is that the way it always worked online have to go thru MSA? Also read that no permits will be mailed until Nov 1...

John is this the cold season flip? My 10 day shows cold and snow all this week in Phelps which seems really cold after such a warm Fall. We can have ice fishing by Thanksgiving if it stays cold for most of November. Is it time to start the snow forecast?

Attended a club meeting last night with lots of constructive discussion. I will also attend another club meeting at the end of the month see how that one goes? How are your meetings shaping up?

We have lots of maples and they are turning yellow & red already. I don't know if the early color will continue but some nights have been in the 30s with frost warnings. It has been cool and gray in late August so far but could mellow out. Fall in Vilas usually is very nice in mid 60s.

My back has some lower disk compressions that are causing me major pain and slowing me down big time. I have been on steroids and next phase is a chiropractor and PT. Chiropractor has always helped a lot in the past as well as massage but insurance not friendly towards massage. So I'm thinking...

Well so far winter forecasts have been favoring a warmer than normal winter and 50-50 more or less rain or snow. LOL.. IDK... but have to check it out and hope!

This chain of lakes is not on the map so I did a little internet research sounds like a 22 chain of small spring fed lakes and outlet is the Crystal River. Is this chain highly regulated by water leos for boat speed and lake use or a let's have fun area? How many miles of water can a Ranger boat...

Lots of rain in and around Phelps WI this Spring and we are now in a 500 year flood. The worst of it seems to be in Conover at Pioneer Lake. North and South Twin Lakes flows thru a dam into Pioneer Lake that has no outlet. From what I have seen piers are under a foot of water and the shoreline...

I'm sick of all the rain in the last 2 months and have not seen the sun in over 7 days. Lakes are at all time high levels no place for the water to go anymore and slowing down the pier installers. 45 degrees rain wind ,gray skies are no fun for the last 2 months. I believe in the law of averages...

Cutler didn't have much color in anything he said as the Bears QB and was terrible with game adjustments. So now he is going to offer game QB perspective on other teams. IDK... I'll watch when I have to and just to see how he does but not a J fan...lol ....Anybody else have thoughts on this?

I have no idea what the Bears will do 1st or 2nd round .....thinking position players are best bet with #3 over all. In WI kids have to be 12 and pass a snowmobile safety course to ride WI trails on any sled including AC 200/ Yam Sno Scoot. To me at 12 years old an AC 200/ Yam Sno Scoot is too small, too slow at 30mph to ride state trails and kids would be better off on a 340-440 sleds into their early teen...

The market has been very good this year but 300+ days for the Dow...very rare.

I had an opportunity to ride off trail Segways in a tropical environment which was soft sand, tree groves, uneven trails with bumps and of course flat paved trails. I really liked it and took to it quickly weaving in an out of trees and doing donuts in soft sand. I started to think this would...
