So.......I started a project, My new Garage!

Looking dang good. I really like how you were able to integrate the used cabinets. It's rare to see a shop with so much counter space. I'm a big fan of having plenty of work surface. I can stage multiple projects with room. I'll give some input on the island plywood top. I have one in my...

Thought I broke a belt running at 95 but didn't...

Mezz, I was thinking along the same line. @lofsfire , you didn't mention which track length. Not sure if it matters on that year? I believe they all ran extroverts. Track would need to be super loose for those to jump. It's possible, but the track would be flapping in the tunnel. I'd still...

    Catalyst ride reports

To the topic of Catalyst riding. I've been on the previous Cat sleds with 800 motors quite a bit. Most of them were 137 skid versions. I finally got a chance to do a shake down ride on two Catalyst sleds with 137 skids. They are now at about 550 miles each. Conditions have been pretty tough...

    Refrigerators

Try to stay with simple. I know it's tempting to go with all the doo dads and glitz. In the long run, the fancy electronics have failure rates similar to the compressor setup. Less parts will help improve your odds. Split doors have another set of hinges and even fancier gasket, closure...

    Avoid Trail 11 south

Bummer deal for the guys. Trying to clarify the exact section. Coming from Wakefield, is that before the first trail 11 intersection?

Finally some real EV/Truck stats and...... WOW!!!

I was under the impression that there was a preconditioning process for cold charging. My power tool batteries sure don't do anything with cold. I get the warning flasheroo until the batteries are warmed. Heck, one of my ICE vehicles has a battery heater. That vehicle was doing some...

    New Journal is up

Nice journal. It was a tear jerker too. I can only imagine going through the holiday season with a whole list of painful firsts. Nora, you do such an excellent job of conveying the story and emotions. I'm not sure if it helps to write and go through the reality of moving forward, but you write...

Cost and time to replace new entry door

Cheap bid would probably just leave the old stuff and cover it with a thicker layer. ;)

Cost and time to replace new entry door

I think that is the easiest route. The old jamb probably needs seals etc. Who knows how much water has leaked into the current door? Even with foam fill, the water still finds cavities. I'm sure it's been through some freeze thaw cycles. I'm sure it is a standard opening size and those...

Cost and time to replace new entry door

I'm guessing with your description that you are talking about the spacer (metal seal), between the glass panes. If that is the case, is the rest of the door fine? That is a large hunk of double pane sealed unit glass for a door. Those units will have a shorter life cycle if they flex. Glass...

Cost and time to replace new entry door

@jjj70095 , The questions are pretty open ended. You can get a whole variety of answers. It may help to narrow down some details. First, I'd like to know why a new furnace is causing moisture? Are you getting condensation inside the glass or is it forming on the surface? If it's multi pane...

What trip(s) have you cancelled so far?

You bring up a couple of good points. This has to be brutal for businesses that like our money to pay the bills. No snow isn't good for business right now. I know the businesses will be dang happy to see us come when conditions get better. I'll be dang happy to see some of those familiar...

Favorite stops from back in the day..

It's long gone. The building used to be right across from Dutch's. It wasn't much of a building. They used the same rule book for building and running the place. No rules. The place was entertaining ;) in a number of ways. We've been going through that area for quite a few years. I can...

So.......I started a project, My new Garage!

Funny you guys mention those rebates. It seems like a money maker deal for John. We have quit trying. We have filled out enough forms to be several thousand dollars and have received one for fifteen and change. Not sure why they don't come back. Most of our stuff has P.O. number attached...

So.......I started a project, My new Garage!

I agree those are nice. I only mentioned the switched outlet because he is currently wiring. Now is the easy time to put a switched outlet in place. I generally put in switched outlets for power tools and dust collection combo systems. I usually hide the vac and dust collectors out of the way...

So.......I started a project, My new Garage!

I do that same trick. Life is so much easier. @pclark , Since you are already doing wiring. Another tip is putting the saw on a switched outlet. I run a shop vac with dust cyclone on the other side of the outlet and hide the whole works under my bench.

What Will You Be Riding This Winter?

We're afraid to say we "might" be riding a new sled. I bought a couple brand new 22 sleds last season. The customers turned down their preordered sleds when they delivered after the season was done. I had to pay for them when delivered in June and they were theoretically one year old when...

    sled lifts

I've looked fondly at various sled lift options over the years. Just never bit the bullet. I have been using a heavy duty ratchet strap attached to the rafters. It works ok for a lot of the stuff I'm doing. It works quite well for skid related stuff. I just wrap one end around the rear...
