The bridge has to be able to lift due to shipping. If the mat is down, they can't lift the span. Typically, after December 15th ships through the canal are a non issue.
The Bridge is not ready for snowmobile traffic on the lower level. There have been a number of snowmobiles crossing the bridge on the sidewalk as well as in the traffic lanes. This is NOT PERMITTED. The DOT will be doing test lifts of the deck shortly to prepare it for the lock down & placement...
We were at 8 degrees this morning, currently a balmy 10 degrees with a wind from the WNW & bands of LES. The air is so dry the snow is like sugar. This weekend is suppose to be in the 30's with spotty rain snow mix. These roller coaster temps are nuts.
Awoke to a few inches of fluff this morning here in the Banana Belt of the Keweenaw. Received an additional 2" with light snow continuing so far. We are still under a Winter Storm Watch with anticipated LES amounts of 5-12" possible through to 7 am Thursday. So far, not bad out there, at least...
The NWS has now upped the snowfall for this LES event to 5-12". This should prove to be interesting with tomorrow's snow removal as the existing snow banks are now set up like cement after 34 to 36 degrees & rain yesterday. Not my idea of a fun roller coaster ride.
Yep, Heere we go again! Potentially 4-10" of new snowfall expected between 7am Wed & 1 am Thurs in Keweenaw, Northern & Southern Houghton county as well as Baraga county. Winds to gust to 35 leading to blowing snow. All according the the NWS. They haven't been real accurate, so we'll see what...
Nice! Brings back memories. I wish the archives had all the posts & pictures that were once there of all of our weekend rides. Great times! Thank
you for sharing those.
I agree, Carlisle or Goodyear. I've had Carlisle tires on my travel trailers & sled trailers, good life span with them. Don't buy tires cause they're cheap, lots of cheap Taiwanese, Chinese & Indonesian junk out there, not worth it.
Slop fest here this morning in the Keweenaw. Wet snow fell overnight followed by rain this morning and 34 degrees. True heart attack snow, what a mess! Local schools here had a 2 hr delayed start. Suppose to see more rain this afternoon then transition to to snow with temps in the upper 20's. I...
We had our first break in snow activity. Saturday was sloppy, after a 2" snow, we had light drizzle from mid morning into the early afternoon. We had a few of the grandkids up to do some early season sled hill action, they were able to fly after I groomed with the sxs.
Been around since the beginning, ever since John was only doing his journal. I am pretty sure it became a forum in 1999, at least that when I am pretty sure I became a member. Been the only social media for me since.
Best I can gather we received a total of 7" with this last round of LES. Initially it was sugar snow, then a light mist of rain when the temp reached 31, temp dropped to 26 late morning then snowed all day into the evening. Winds got crazy through the night into the early morning. Schools were...
