3 Old Guys Ride to Alaska

I saw where they were gassing up in Baudette (gas station with the big fish in the background) rode across Lake of the Woods and crossed into Canada at Angle Inlet - just surprised they didn’t get a pic in front of the big marker there as part of the trip. This was from last year…

    How’s this for you guys

I love it when the bench racers look at the recent temperatures, heavy rains, and start waxing sleds in the middle of February during one of the best years we’ve had! (MN) 900 miles in 5 days and no it wasn’t all like Indy’s pic, but when you meet a TOTAL of 12 sleds on the trail, you know it’s...

Pictures and Conditions from Price County

Trap & Fish was actually about 7 miles north of the Tuscobia on Trail 5 - they have been closed for YEARS (10+). One of the former owners now have a place called The Loretta Steakhouse in Loretta/Draper - Twin Cities of the north! LOL

    North shore snow

We rode out of Tofte - first track up to the State Trail and got within .7 miles of it. And nope on the SKS as it was, but I’m thinking an older Axys RMK may find it’s way into the stable if the right deal comes along. I’m a trail rider as you know, but every year or 2-3-4 there’s one of these...

    North shore snow

No deep lug tracks for me, was one of those weekends I wish I had one! It was all of 4’ in places up the hill - this was my attempt in a bailer, made it 4 miles in before the temp kept rising from not being able to let off!

    Gas

I may have pointed this out before, but the Pine Bend Refinery, which is about 15 miles from me, has increased its capacity more than 10 fold in the last 40 years. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pine_Bend_Refinery#History

    Gas

My dad tipped over 8 years ago. It was about 20 years ago, he told us, when he dies, rent a D8 Cat, have them dig a big hole in the middle of the field (10 acre property) and push everything I have in there and bury it! We all laughed, but when he tipped over, my god what a bunch of junk he...

    Gas

While it is true we have not had any new refineries, the size of said refineries has grown significantly over that time, at least the one closest to me. There is one about 15 miles from my house that I can tell you has grown significantly in my lifetime, more than ten-fold per some articles...

    April Riding MN

Lutsen opened up for last Saturday 5/7 one more time! Latest they were ever open. And yes, dropped on the NSST behind the ski hill. There was still 2' in the woods when I took those pics. Put 150 miles on in 24 hours! Its been pretty warm with a lot of rain lately, I doubt you'll find...

How was your riding season ?

It was a good season sans a few issues, but that's why I have three sleds at the ready. 2021 850 XCR had some valve issues, so at 1500 miles it was time to jump on the backup. 2200 miles from there the 2018 800 XCR had valve issues as well, so onto the backup to the backup. Put 650 miles on...

    North Shore

Rode a number of those trails a week ago also. A buddy and I have always thought about riding up into Canada, but after talking with some Canadians from just south of Thunder Bay, we have scratched that off our list. They said they have this wonderful trails system, but most of it doesn't go...

Interesting story on world record attempt

Yeah we got lucky when we rode up there from Cook about 6 weeks ago. Clear sky’s, temps around 10-15 above, not a lot of wind, and as you can see, freshly groomed! Very cool area to ride with little to no sled traffic. Lots of areas they could cordon off for a big track as long as no...

Interesting story on world record attempt

That makes a hell of a lot more sense than where they were planning to run it…. LOTS of big miles long stretches that have been getting groomed all year.
