    HayDays

We had a great time like usual. Didn't buy a lot, biggest purchase was a tunnel bag for the new to me RMK. Polaris had a clearance tent there and the tunnel bags were $100, normal price was $359 so that was a good deal. Got my new sled from Montana delivered. The dealer from there had a big swap...

    HayDays

That is an old picture, he was only about 8 months old then. He's now 5+ and he's a beast. 90-95 lbs but the happiest dang dog ever.

    HayDays

Anybody going this year? We'll be there for about our 30th straight year, camping as usual in the Chicken Coop across the highway. Don't really have anything to shop for but I'm sure I'll find something. If you're wandering thru the woods section of camping at the Chicken Coop and you see a gray...

    Who's chopping at the bit?

thinking of anything new for upcoming season?

Since its going to be my first winter as a retired/unemployed person I am hoping for a great snow year on the north shore. But just in case it doesn't happen we've booked a months worth of VRBO's split between Island Park, ID and Seeley Lake, MT. And of course since we did that I decided I...

    The countdown is on!

Great question. We can stay on Cobra for the first 18 months but that's kind of expensive. We've priced out insurance on MNCare and if the subsidies stay in effect that will be super cheap for us next year but after that when we can start withdrawing from my 401K it'll jump up quite a bit. Since...

    The countdown is on!

Yes, we did move to the cabin last June but this is most likely not our final destination. Still trying to figure that spot out and that will determine if we keep this. Giving some thought to building near you in Shell Lake on the family farm that i grew up on, and being near my dad would be a...

    The countdown is on!

Although many of us, including myself, are counting down days till we can get the sleds out again my countdown is now 172 days until both my wife and I call it quits. Jan 2 is the big day so lets hope we get a ton of snow this winter. Looking forward to some of that mid week riding people brag...

First Heat Wave of the Summer

We're supposed to warm up to a whole 70 degrees on the north shore! Not sure how we'll handle it.:) The heat did interrupt a camping trip we had planned. Had a 5 day weekend planned down near La Crosse but saw the highs are supposed to be 96 each day over the weekend so we rescheduled that.

    Got Smoke?

Very hazy and smelly in the Duluth and North Shore area.

Having grown up in Shell Lake where we once had two boat factories it is nice to see some still in use.

    Memorial Day weekend photos

So we had a beautiful weekend on the North Shore. 60 degrees and blue skies every day. The fires up here got under control so no more worries about that and my wife and I got out for a couple of hikes. On Sunday we went to Crosby Manitou State Park and hiked back into the falls. About 3 miles...

    Pictures of Your Summer Toys

Well I don't have all of them here, missing 2 more bikes, a ATV, and the 5th wheel, but here's my latest. I'd posted this before but its the new Mtn Bike and it has a motor so that counts, right?? I'll say I'm amazed by the assist the motor gives and it's basically unnoticeable when it kicks...

Snowing and blowing in the Keweenaw April 29th 2025

When I got home from work last night I noticed the rain during the day had melted the last of the snow in my yard. Then I wake up this morning and its white again. WTH?

    2025 NFL Draft

Trust me, no stranger to WI. Grew up in Shell Lake WI, lived in the Hudson & Amery area until 2006 when we moved to the Duluth, MN for work. Will be back in WI this weekend again. Moving back to Shell Lake after retirement is one of the options on our list right now. Only 248 days to go! We...

    2025 NFL Draft

We made the journey to GB for the draft. Busy but lots of fun. Not sure if I'd do it again but glad we did it this time. The crowd appreciated Clay Matthews opening statements "the Bears still suck" and Mark Murphy did a good job getting the crowd excited for the Packers first pick. I even had a...

    What'd I Miss?

Funny story, get to work today and checking accounts and see a charge for $357 that we don't recognize. Call bank and they say it looks suspicious based on where its from so they cancel it. Again, stay vigilant. there's shitty people out there that would rather steal than work.

    What'd I Miss?

When our daughter first moved to NYC we had to help with her deposit for her apartment and had to be the guarantor for her. So we sent them a check and about two days later had roughly $5K transferred out of our account. Luckily I’m sort of anal and check it daily so the bank could stop it so...

    One more ride

Got out for another ride on the north shore after last weeks snowstorm. And it may be sacrilege on this site but I really hope it’s the last one. Rode 90+ miles, mostly forest roads but some trails. Snow was good near Finland and along an area about 15 miles inland from Lake Superior. We got a...

    Started the 2025 trip.

Oh there will be no Viking gear worn by this family! Born and raised in WI, owner of the team, still on the list for tickets, and we get there at least once a year for a game. We've done the stadium tours, the Hall of Fame, and have spent way too much money in the pro shop! Love the Title Town...
