Recommendation of place to stay with family

Sounds good. Will be curious what conditions are like. As I think we mentioned, we're heading somewhere on the 22nd. I know a lot can change between now and then.

    Chevy 6.2L questions

Good to know. Seems like the 5.0 might be the way to go if you want to keep it for a lot of miles.

    Chevy 6.2L questions

Mileage is better with the 5.0 than the ecoboost? Or is that just with towing?

Recommendation of place to stay with family

Good to hear. We parked in Tomahawk last year and headed to the UP. So was thinking about starting at the same place and heading NW instead. Tomahawk is an easy drive for us if we time the part going around chicago right (probably 6 hours from where our trailer is parked).

    Is this 10 foot long?

    Chevy 6.2L questions

That's great. Wondered how they would last compared to a non-boosted v8. MPGs are impressive, at least when not towing (which would be 80% of the time for me).

Recommendation of place to stay with family

Following along here. We are heading somewhere on Sat the 22nd to ride Sunday - Wednesday. With canada closed off to our group at least, the norm for us would be to start on either the west or east side of UP (driving up from IN/IL border area). But with good snow elsewhere I was thinking maybe...

    Chevy 6.2L questions

Anyone put high miles on the ecoboost? Wondering how they hold up. On paper that seems like a great option. Relative just bought a Chevy with their 4 cyl turbo. I didn't know they offered that.

    I Don't Drive a Chevy, but....

I like that you call it new junk. I kind of have the same perspective on old junk and new junk.

    late start to snow?

Hoping Vilas works out this year. Tentative plans to take the kids up there between Christmas and NY. We wouldn't be out on the public trails so don't need much. The kids missed out last season due to a few things so they are itching to get up there.

    Ironwood to Copper Harbor

Agree with the above that there are some fun loops up there so I'd take advantage of that. There are hotels in Calumet too if Copper Harbor is booked.

Centennial/Snowies - how late in the season can you typically ride?

Was planning an early/mid March trip and it looks like it's falling apart on schedules. Was wondering if it's realistic to ride someplace like the Snowies in mid-April. I assume any rentals would be done by then but we can drag our trail sleds out there. Did it once before mid-season quite a few...

Great conditions this past week - west side of UP

Rode about 700 miles from Sunday - Tuesday. Parked in Tomahawk Saturday night. Rode through Wisconsin and then up to Mass City on Sunday, spent most of Monday on the powerlines and then rode up in the Keweenaw after that, and then rode back to from Mass City to Tomahawk Monday. Stayed at the...

Track tension - how much, how to measure

Haven’t messed with this in awhile so thought it was worth a post. Do you set this per the manual or run it a looser? If you set it to the spec do you use a fish scale to check it?

    carbides

What's the recommendation for carbides these days. I had bergstroms on my fusion, with the ski savers and shims, and they made it well over 8,000 miles and were still pretty good when I sold it. Have a Cat 137 now. Stock ones have about 2,500 on them now and probably should be replaced. I don't...

Opinion on 01 Polaris 500 Classic for kids

Found an 01 Classic 500 with 3,200 miles for sale near me, asking $1,500. From pictures it looks to be clean. Guy is selling an enclosed trailer too, so it might be something that stayed out of the salt. Wondering if would be a good sled for kids to learn on, say starting at 12. Concerned it...

    ZR 200/Sno scoot

Saw an 18 ZR 200 for sale at a decent price but wondering if anyone has any experience on them or thoughts on the size of them. I have 9 year old twins and a 12 year old. I'm assuming my 12 year old is too big for one - he can handle a full size sled decently (family has a 900 doo with the eco...

Things for families to do around Eagle River, WI

We spend a week or so at a relative's place near Eagle River each summer. Normally playing around the water, a bit of fishing, the go kart/mini golf place in town. Three kids, ages 8 - 12. Thought I'd see what else we should be doing in that area. Looks like we'll be up there in July or August...

    Mastercraft boat seat parts

My family has an 07 Mastercraft X15 that we picked up used a couple years ago. The seat bottom on the driver's seat is cracked - it's a plastic part. I can't seem to find parts and/or a replacement seat. Anyone have any ideas on where to find parts for something like this? Would prefer to fix it...
