3-4 inches of rain forecast this week during an already wet Fall. Brushing is going to be tough this year with the swamps full and unless we get a very dry period in November we are going to need lots of cold to set up wet areas. Here’s hoping we get dry and cold in November so think cold.

Trailer parade north started yesterday north on 17/45. It's been a great week of riding so hope you all find your UP paradise! Tons of snow in the UP from Ironwood to Big Bay! Vilas is going to be a snirt haven big traffic burned it down quickly but very rideable just adjust your expectations...

Lots of fresh snow in Vilas 8-10 inches on a good base so get on it quickly mid 40s on Friday....have fun...I'm riding.

A good size snow storm towards the end of this week with a target somewhere over WI will spread out the white gold to more areas than just the north. Then the deep freeze comes in Xmas week with below zero temps! I'll be paying close attention to the JD storm track but so far so good!

We will blow thru Thanksgiving quickly and I'm thankful for the good traveling weather this week....BUT... We need groomable snow SOON in Vilas and the UP!! Next 10 plus days look boring for snow & LES so I'm starting to look for that big system snow dumper....don't see it so far.

Lakes are starting to seal up very surprising this week. I saw a few ice chunks floating then a very cold calm night and the lake sealed tight and now has snow cover as well. Swamps and trail wet spots getting what they need too. All in all very encouraging for early November. :)

I tried to purchase online a non resident MI Snomo Trail Permit from the MI DNR website but was directed to MSA website for online permit. Cost $50 total with $2.00 for handling. Is that the way it always worked online have to go thru MSA? Also read that no permits will be mailed until Nov 1...

John is this the cold season flip? My 10 day shows cold and snow all this week in Phelps which seems really cold after such a warm Fall. We can have ice fishing by Thanksgiving if it stays cold for most of November. Is it time to start the snow forecast?
