Arrived in Presque Isle yesterday at 4 pm to -10. Awoke to - 25 degrees this morning, and a frozen cold water supply pipe in my basement on a north exterior wall. Hoping it's just frozen and did not split the copper. This sucks.

As much as I want to ride, I don't want to destroy my slides and carbides just to say I did. Drove yesterday from Presque Isle up to Houghton in my truck. Incredible snow difference for the roughly 100 miles. Snow starts to look good around Bruce Crossing and the trails looked pretty good heading north on 45. Hwy 38/26 near Pats Motorsports looked good also. The mosquito inn was packed...

One thing nice about the crappy conditions last year and trails not opening, and this year, so far... is that we didn't discuss fatalities. Sorry to report but that ended tonight. I'm hearing that there was a fatality today in Houghton County in Sidnaw. All I know so far is that it was a 50 ish...

I think my iPhone has the weather channel app installed on it, but I can't figure out how to tell. For the most part, pretty accurate and gives me what I am interested in.

My grandparents had that tree at their home in Chicago. Had a mirror base, color wheel and would rotate. I thought that was the coolest thing. Wish I had kept it when they passed.

Its only December 19th. I don't think the season is "toast" as it really has not even started yet. I get it that last year sucked but the year before we were riding into mid/late March. I'm nowhere ready to give up on it anywhere in the near future.

Riders out today on Presque Isle trails. They gassed up in town and headed north so I would imagine they were headed to UP trails. Our trails look flat and rideable, (barely) but with the temperature today and tomorrow, that thin base will go to mud and ice. The roads/crossings are down to bare...

We can hope. That was the jewel of P.I. back in the 80s and 90s. So sad to drive by it every day and see it abandoned. One of the P.I. volunteer firemen has been cutting the grass for the past few years just so it didn't look like such an eyesore. Would love to see it re-open as a bar/restaurant...

I'm hearing that the Sunday Lake Auto business owner, (who is a great guy and fellow snowmobiler) had too many near misses with the throttle jockeys blasting through his lot without a care for anything, had enough. Too bad. I don't blame him when idiots create a liability for his business.

My daughter in Bessemer says it's a whiteout and adding up quickly. She is firing up her sled and going out for the first ride of the season.
