msrunningbear, has this cold weather caused the Paulding Light to show up less often?

Have you been there? When I went, I saw the "light" (i.e., car headlights) twice. I was completely alone and I must say it was a bit exciting, even though there's nothing paranormal about it.

msrunningbear, has this cold weather caused the Paulding Light to show up less often?

Well, I FINALLY made it out to the Paulding Light this past weekend. I am on vacation so I decided to spend the night in Eagle River. I had no plans so I drove to the light at about 7pm on Saturday night. It was very dark, cold (5F), and quiet. Lo and behold, I saw the light twice. I can't...

    No Snow - No Problem

Cool pics. I know of at least one rural doctor near Iron River, WI that bought a conversion kit to convert his Ford Model-T into a vehicle like in your pic. He claimed it could go through 2.5 feet of snow and allowed him to provide care for patients that lived far from town. I think this was...

Dog sled team hit by Snowmobiler in Bayfield WI

This is about 2 miles from where I'm sitting right now. I suspect the musher was training for the Northern Pines Sled Dog race coming up on February 19? I'm on this section of the Tri-county Corridor a lot and occasionally see a sled dog team. I wish the victims the best. Wow.

    10 feet

I was thinking about this thread and was curious how much snow the area got, so I did a bit of googling. Northstar at Tahoe (a ski resort on the north side of Lake Tahoe) got 117" of snow Xmas week. Also, the UC-Berkeley Central Sierra Snow Lab on Donner Pass (just west of Lake Tahoe) received...

the Big Fitz 46 Years Later

Thanks for posting. I live in Duluth and when the wind is really blowing in off the water, I often wonder (and comment to my wife) what it would be like to be out on the big lake during a big blow. The museum at Whitefish Point is amazing. Very sombering. Also, the Valley Camp ship museum...

12 Feet of Snow in 48 hours

Has anyone seen any snowfall reports from Alaska? I saw one news article that said it is "likely" that over 10 feet has fallen in the mountains, but I'm not sure how accurate that is.

12 Feet of Snow in 48 hours

That's crazy! I followed one of the links in the story you referred to and saw that Michigan's 3-day snowfall record is 60.0 inches (assuming I read the chart properly). That's pretty crazy, too.

Nice pics! What a coincidence in that about two hours ago I was watching a Youtube video of someone climbing Timm's hill.
