    2026

Out with the old and In with the new, as they like to say. Think about this...We're the only species that counts the days, minutes, and hours, all the others just eat and reproduce... And so it begins, 2026! Regardless of how you celebrate, or not at all. Have a safe and prosperous New Year...

    Oh, Rats!

The Seattle area has apparently been getting hit with some heavy rain and it was bad enough that the folks at the Seattle & King Public Health had to release some steps on how to deal with toilet rats. It seems that with enough flooding, rats can get washed into sewer systems and from there...

    Merry Christmas!

I have the rest of the year off so I'm catching up on my "to do list" here. At the top of the list is to wish you a Merry Christmas. I hope yours is a safe and happy holiday with family & friends. Now that our parents are gone, our house has become ground zero for family gatherings. I'm fine...

    1990s-the-second-golden-age-of-snowmobiling

Let me play Devil's Advocate here. The previous points are well taken for the 90's models but I would consider the early 2,000 machines as a Golden Age. Yamaha's Four Strokes and Ski Doo's Rev platforms gave us huge changes in ride and reliability. Can you believe it's been 25 years already? I...

    Calling all snowmobilers!!

Is this a generational problem? Are the younger people less likely to be civic minded? There's no doubt that our values have changed as the population gets older. Ask any Civic group of their membership and they'll tell you they're getting older and fewer of them. Snowmobiling is a Niche...

    Anybody else having issues?

As you might expect, Miscellaneous has the most interest. When there's storms/snow, the Current Conditions jumps to the top. Vintage probably comes in a close third almost certainly due to Skiroule's continued posts of his restorations. A couple of thoughts on the pop ups and I have to be...

Likewise, have a Safe and Happy Holiday Season. And tell your Buckeyes to take it easy on Wisconsin Football, We're starting over like it's 1899.

    Anybody else having issues?

Allow me to vent. Not sure what you consider "back in the day" but this website was upgraded a few years ago because the original could no longer handle the volume of traffic. I suspect our numbers have decreased due to no longer posting weather forecasts, etc. The current issues are another...

    Anybody else having issues?

I've had the same thoughts. Our Visitor Numbers have been unusually high the last couple of weeks and that seems to effect the access.

Winneconne had some trespassing problems a few years ago so they're sensitive to sleds that don't follow the route through town. But the Fin n' Feather is worth the ride in getting there. By boat in the summer or by sled in the winter, it's all good!

    Anybody else having issues?

Yeah, I wish I could do more but I'm primarily responsible for content. I can alert when we have issues but the nuts & bolts of I.T. are in the hands of someone else. In the old days I could call John or Text him and he'd have a fix within minutes. That's not the case anymore. The annoying pop...

Chaparral vs John Deere: A Build-Off Challenge

The people at the Chaparral's Engineering were certainly thinking outside the box with some of their ideas and innovations. I don't recall seeing a dash with the speedo on one side and the tach. on the other. Nice fuel gauge too for that era.

Sorry Indy, I couldn't get out there on Friday because of Family Stuff. If our snowpack holds, I'll be out there soon!

Good name for it! Should probably add a "changing station" at the other end. ;)
