    I don't get it

There used to be tractors that came with crab steering. I'm not aware that it is an option anymore.

    Western UP

We rode trail 1 last week. It's open but southern section was plowed for logging trucks. That might be part of the confusion since that section is not groomed. We did not ride 100 but did see sleds coming out of the intersection. I have no idea if they just turned around or came from the...

How is the yoop holding up?

That is pretty normal. The short section of 2 that is done by Gogebic doesn't see as much grooming. Those bumps get pretty deep and hard before they get cut down again. The Thunder riders do a bang up job so the transition is more dramatic.

How is the yoop holding up?

Sugar snow. We've been riding the western end every other week. Start early in the day if you want to put on miles. Traffic is heavy enough to tear down the groom pretty quickly. Trails that do not get groomed on a regular basis won't quite make a volkswagen disappear, but it's close. If you...

    NS1 guage....

On newer Cat sleds the odometer is in the gauge. I offset the NS1 miles each time I transfer to a new machine. One of my NS1 gauges is offset by 28,000 miles. I reuse the gauge and clear the data logs each time I transfer to a new machine When putting the original gauge back, the miles will...

    NS1 guage....

I've been running the NS1 for about seven years. It is the real deal. It is nice because of the ability to customize five screens you can simply scroll through. It also has a data logging feature that allows you to look back at a long list of items put out by the ECU. It is a long list...

    Trail question 12&13 open?

That section of trail 1 got beat up pretty bad during the rain and melting. Someone drove back and forth with a vehicle while it was slop. They created track wide ruts that wandered all over the trail. Deep ruts too. I'm surprised the vehicle made it through some of the stuff. The road up...

    Anybody Riding?

We just came back from the western end. Sure couldn't beat the traffic volume. Saw two sleds in 100 mile ride on Saturday. Riding in the rain was interesting. It took some time to dry out the bags and gear. Conditions overall were better than expected. The rain did hammer the low cover...

    It starts again

That is possible. We stop at a place where the owners are not riders. Their place is off the beaten path in the woods. We intentionally take the road and driveway into the cabin so others do not "follow" tracks we'd make by cutting through the woods. This subject comes up quite often and I...

    Heere Meester Bleezard!

@indy_500 , We used to joke about that snow line. It was common to drive hundreds of miles through brown until we hit the edge of Hurley. During good years it kept getting deeper as we drove through Ironwood. Sometimes it could be measured in feet by the time we got to Wakefield. In those...

    Arctic Cat layoffs etc.

Most of those are corp pullbacks from other dealers. They bought those with about 40% discount. There is a limited number of those sleds available. If you go for one, check on warranty.

    Around superior bag trip

I have a buddy that lives over there and they venture that route once and awhile. His advice. Bring a chainsaw for the southern portion.

What Will You Be Riding this Winter

I clanged out a whole bunch of coin on a new 858 RXC for the next season. The interesting part of the thread title is "Riding and Winter". I sure hope the season isn't like last winter. Riding was a challenge. It was more like riding for about one week vs. all winter. @gary_in_neenah , I like...

    Propane price?

Corn driers didn't use much around our area. Some of the Co Ops are crammed with inventory. I wonder if that will carry over to the better pricing?

    woodys navigator/dooly opinions

@euphoric1 , Are you thinking about these for the Catalyst? They have a much different steering feel and use ski pressure different compared to previous models. In some ways I'd describe the effort like Twin Spar with steering bite that actually works. Might be worth trying your typical setup...

Ever Heard of the Corn Sweats?

It's interesting that we start hearing about this now. There is a lot of new science aimed at trying to measure and determine how plants use water. Much of that research is aimed toward effective plant selection for an environment. (Irrigation or natural rainfall), Many parts of the world...

    Refrigerator help

Something doesn't sound right. That is a crazy failure rate. I know clean power is a big deal with some stuff. I can't imagine that you are getting that much dirty power, but board failures sure suggest that may be an issue. Have they all been board failures? I don't feel comfortable saying...

When is best time to run a dehumidifier?

70% humidity spells problems unless you're trying to grow mold. It's less work to control humidity than fixing mold problems. Running AC and dehumidifier on temp cycles isn't going to get much done. If the space has been at 70% for any time all the material in the space is at that moisture...

New Copper mine might be coming to the Porcupine Mountains

I wonder if it will happen. Those guys have been doing bore samples for over a decade. I've yapped with a few of them over the years and they say the samples show good product but it's deep. Their early speculation was shaft mining. They also mentioned that copper isn't the only material...
