    Vilas County changes trail openings

I read in the paper today that next year Vilas will open up (and close) club by club rather than as an entire county. It could get a little tricky but I like it. Wonder if more northern counties will give it a try.

    Weather for 2026/2027

Kinda risky posting your travel plans on a public forum nowadays. With AI, it easier than ever for the bad guys to take advantage. Just sayin...

Boat battery maintainer has flashing red light and wont charge boat battery.

I have a 2005 Kubota L3830 that still has the original battery that has never been on a tender or charger and it still tests out like new. I do however use tenders on all my powersports stuff because those batteries all seem like junk, except the lithiums.

    The Future of our sport

"The more things change, the more they stay the same." Been going on since the beginning. It'll all be OK.

    The Future of our sport

I think it is working for the sport financially. It just isn't increasing club participation as hoped.

    The Future of our sport

WI DNR does not decide how funds will be used. Snowmobile Recreation council (SRC) does a great job with this.

    The Future of our sport

FYI, after 25 years as secretary and treasurer with Three Lakes Trails, I feel I have a clue about what it takes including over 100 land use agreements. I have volunteered many thousands of hours to the mission. And I don't see public perception as an issue/problem around here. Like I said...

What makes a "good run snowmobile club"?

Three Lakes. We are very large and cover around 186 miles over 2 counties. We have two organizations. One for the trails and one for the social aspect. It allows people to gravitate towards whichever they are interested, or both. Trails meetings are much more productive and without disruptions...

    The Future of our sport

What a depressing thread! Why is it many clubs continue to thrive year after year despite all the issues mentioned here which have mostly been going on since the beginnings?

Got a Total Line Whole House Humidifer today

Around here, cold water is free but the energy to heat it isn't. I have never sensed any urgency to reach a humidity set point. My humidity always stays right where I set it and I speak from experience as well!

Got a Total Line Whole House Humidifer today

AI did say MOST humidifiers which probably includes the OP's. Your ERV situation is not common and is a likely exception. The difference in evaporation for hot vs cold is not huge. My 10 year old 97% furnace with Aprilaire works perfectly using cold and saves energy doing it.

Got a Total Line Whole House Humidifer today

AI says cold water is preferred for most furnace (whole-house) humidifiers. Why cold water is typically recommended Most furnace humidifiers (bypass, fan-powered, and many flow-through units) are designed to operate with cold water. Using hot water can: 🔧 Increase mineral buildup (hot water...

Got a Total Line Whole House Humidifer today

Don't why they hook to hot water. Seems like a waste of energy. I have Aprilaire and never touch it.

    This Weekend's DNR Patrols

AWSC has no say in funding. This is done by the SRC.
