    Lithium Trolling Motor Battery

Hey all. Have my mind pretty well made up to invest in an Amped 24v. 80ah battery for my Minn Kota 80lb. Terrova. Lighter weight, longer run time, thousands of charge cycles, and 11 year warranty. Anyone have any experience with Lithium batteries in their boats?

    Walleyes for Tomorrow 2024

Very cool, Paul. Thanks for sharing the pics and story! It's great to see all the effort behind keeping our fisheries healthy. There is a big trap net project in Northern MN too in the Winnibigoshish/Cutfoot area. They too, have been finding many females still had hard bellies and weren't...

    It's 2024, Let's Fish!

That 17" slot is sure a tough one. I can relate as it's the same/similar on a lot of lakes in MN. I'd love to see the science around the age or sex of a 17" vs. 18" fish. I catch soooo many walleyes that touch or are just over the 17" slot and get a free pass. Maybe that in itself is the...

    3-22

Boy, Mark, I sure hope we don't get that much. I've gone the entire winter without needing to have the driveway plowed. Don't want to start now!

    Retirement Scenario

Hoping within the next 5 years or so, we can sell our home in Lakeville, MN and move permanently to our cabin in Spooner, WI. Will need to make a few updates to live there comfortably full time, (add laundry and a 2nd bath) but with the proceeds from the house sale, should be able to more than...

    Nora and Grace

Just wondering if anyone has heard from or seen Nora and Grace. Haven't heard from Nora since Jan. 15th and am hopeful they are doing as well as possible.

    TIME TO CALL IT ?

I'll be the "glass is half full" guy regarding this forecast. As dry as it has been everywhere, my opinion is that a good amount of wet snow is better than heavy rain, since the rain is more likely to run off and the wet snow will melt slow and soak into the ground a lot more. I think at this...

    Grooming history

Also, there was a company in northern MN, (maybe Penguilly?) who made one of the first open cab twin track machines that would pull a drag. I think maybe 1974 or 75 were the first models.

    Grooming history

When my dad introduced me to snowmobiling in the mid-70s, we used to go to Northern Minnesota near the small town of Bigfork. There was an older gentleman that my dad got to know, who groomed the trails there. His name was Millard Smith. He used a Ski-Doo Scandic and pulled a bed spring. I...

    Lake Thunder

Same thing happened at our lake in NW Wisc. a couple weeks ago. 9 p.m. and I was unloading the SUV when I heard a loud rumble of thunder. It went from one end of the lake to another and lasted at least 5 seconds, maybe longer. I actually had to look up in sky to see it was clear and the stars...

How many folks are taking the money they are not spending and saving for a side by side??

Man, you are right about that. Can Am especially needs to figure out the heat in the cab. They are downright unpleasant to ride if it's above 80. But so far, that's the only drawback I've found.

We need to be reminded $$$

I actually had a great experience with "younger" workers yesterday. Had to replace our dishwasher. Bought it at the Big Blue store and a local installer came to put it in. 2 young guys in their early 20's, very similar to my son. They were super courteous, great communicators, and fast! So...

We need to be reminded $$$

I'm going to say something about minimum wages that probably isn't going to be popular, but it's something I feel passionately about. I work in the service industry, and always have. All the way back to my high school days. I think Jonesin said it above, but these were always positions held...

How many folks are taking the money they are not spending and saving for a side by side??

The dust and dirt is a bit of a pain for sure. But I'll take the wind in my hair every. single. day. compared to riding around in a fully enclosed cab. If I want that experience, I can ride in my car. For me, the open air, the mud puddles, etc. are very similar to finding untouched powder on...

How many folks are taking the money they are not spending and saving for a side by side??

I'm with Skylar and Rupp. Bought a one-year old Can Am Maverick Sport 1000R (naturally aspirated) 60" Side by Side 2 years ago. My wife likes to snowmobile, but not as much as I do. But riding the Can Am is a different story. We've put on almost 8,000 miles in the last 2 years. NW Wisconsin...

We will set a record for latest opening date if we do not open by the 25th

Here is 30 yr. Average snowfall for WI. Still looking for lowest snowfall amounts by county. We certainly aren't going to touch any of these numbers from Central WI north this year!

We will set a record for latest opening date if we do not open by the 25th

Agreed. Crazy in Spooner too. Almost no snow. Maybe 2 inches out on the lake. 30's and 40's for the next 2 full weeks. I know I'm lazy because I won't trailer to ride. Too spoiled always being able to ride right from our cabin. Don't have to board dogs, pay for lodging, food, vehicle gas...
