'07 D7 high idle

Got a strange one. The sled rarely comes down from the high idle/warm up mode. Hangs between 2200 and 2400 rpm. Here is what I can tell you. It has a SLP air flow intake on it, and has not had a problem till this season. I have swaped out the air sensor on the side of the air box as when I was playing with it the rpm's droped down to the normal 1800ish. This did not make a difference. If I move the air box back and forth slightly the rpm's will drop down with the hood open. As soon as I close the hood the rpm's go back up. Once I lift up the hood again the rpm's will drop back down. If it was the intake boots that I have heard are a problem you would think it would not make a difference with the hood up or down and would be consistant all of the time. Any ideas?

x2 on the boot's, Check the airbox to make sure there are no tear's or crack's from the box to the boot's.

I would definately check the intake boots because if they are bad, you will burn down. But also it could be the TPS.

The boots from the throttle body to the motor is what usually goes bad and burns them down.

after reading your original post, when you close hood the idle climbs,is something hitting the throttle cable and pulling it open?

Headed north this past Tuesday, changed out the intake boots between Tuesday night/Wed am. Finger size hole on the pto end with several other areas of the rubber delaminating from the metal. Got r installed and road for about 20 miles and she shut down....Pulled the spark plugs and metal on mag side cylinder (go figure). Towed it back to cabin and parked it. Hard to say, damaged may have already been done prior to replacing the intake boots. Good thing we had had extra sled so the rest of the trip was not ruined. Trailered back home and now is at the dealer. The mag side cylinder and piston let go at 3500 miles and now this at 4700 miles on the same side. Fuel and oil filters were replaced last year, oil lines are good..... Thinking she will be down the road and getting Switchback Pro-R. Can't trust it any more. Love the sled, but not worth the headaches or possible headaches on a trip with family or friends.
