I know a guy who lost a cylinder on his 07 dragon 700. Sled had 5200 miles and ran good for a day. Ran 3-4 tanks of fuel through it and started melting a piston on clutch side. Any issues with these motors,,,where to start?

I have same sled that also went down with 5300 miles. I found that the tit on the piston that holds the rings from spinning was gone and the ring spun until it caught a port and broke into pieces. Fourth day of the trip and was intermediately ran like a plug was fouled before letting loose. 2 pistons kits and a jug and it has been good for another 2500 mi so far.

Just happened to me the piston probly hit the VES valve if you guys are going to rebuild it do both pistons and have the jugs checked out pulling the engine is a pain in the rump there is alot you have to take off before you even get to the real work rember the airbox is in two pices so just pull up hard and move in fron there once ya get goin it gets easier just make sure you clean out the crank case and check the berrings. Tell your friend good luck if he needs help I have a great guy who is a wealth of knowledge on polaris.

Definetly check the intake boots Lenny. I have had to replace mine twice so far, 7400 miles on my 07 600. They list different part numbers for the 600 and 700, but I bet they both came from the same vendor. This was a known issue on the 06 600's, and some of the 07's.

issue on 08s too. my 08 700 went down because of the intake boots at 2400 miles. 8000 on now and still good.
