09 800 IQ hesitation

my buddy bought a non-current 2009 800 IQ and he noticed a hesitation/something dropping in and out at 4500RPM's. As soon as you hit the throttle it goes great it almost feels like the exhaust valves maybe be starting to open... Has anyone else felt this on their sled? Is there something that starts at 4500 RPM's?

It feels like my mercury outboard which is a 2+2 which is at low RPM it only runs on 2 of the cylinders and at 2000RPM's the other 2 start firing.

Any input/thoughts would be great!

he bought it new after the new year and updates were done. Piston and ring update and program flash update.

The latest flash (#4 I believe) resolved that for my sled. Amazing the difference- I got a solid 8 more mph on the top end, and absolutely no mid-range bog. First thing- I would confirm exactly what flash he got.

When I had a flash done at my dealer last year- they said that not one flash will work the same for every motor. Most of the feedback I've heard, is like me- #4 was the answer. However- I would suggest he go back to the dealer (if you can ride near the dealer, that would be best- so might have to wait until next year) and try some of the other flashes. It can always be put back to one or another. Maybe #2 or #3 will resolve the issue for his particular machine.

Good luck- after this latest motor flash, I have absolutely zero complaints about my 09 800 dragon. Pulls hard. Handles great. Too bad she's all cleaned up and summerized. Ready for boating to begin!

The lastest flash came out this summer. I talked to a couple of guys at the Ride-In who had it done and they both claimed it took care of all problems.

I had a bad ground fry my CPU a few weeks ago. Took it in and had that, as well as the voltage regulator replaced. The new CPU had the latest programming on it. It's a totally different sled now! No bogs or hestitation at any range. Runs like a raped ape!

Make sure he gets the latest one done.

I actually brought mine home to play last time I was up. I've been riding with AnnaWL and her husband Brian here locally on White lake and in the Highland Rec Area. It's not the UP but at least we have/had snow to play in. I was supposed to go up this weekend and play with the Bears, Squat and Julies but that's not going to happen. Right now, she's parked in the garage just waiting!

Dave glad to hear your sled runs like you! Told you to hang in there with it. Problem now is you won't sell it to me at salvage value.

I'll tell you what, you buy the 2011 800 Assault 144 Switchback, ride it for a year, and we'll work out a trade. I'll even add the heavy duty torsion springs for ya! :D

I looked at one yesterday. $9600 out the door. I told them to stretch it to 155 and put a "Real" track on it, then I would take it for that. They laughed and said, "Thats how you have to take it". I said, "It is still yours." A 2" lug track will bolt right in without changing the drivers. I may as well spend a few more bucks I don't have and get the RMK Pro.

I'm having the same issue with my 09 Poo. Might have to break down and have it flashed. I'm sure this is not cheap. :(

My 2010 800 Assault was doing this and and the breather tube that comes off the "T" by the ves valves that goes down through the bellypan was plugged with ice. Cleaned the ice out and it fixed it.

Just something to look at if you're still having problems.
