We received about an inch and a half of snow last night into this morning (on top of the inch or so we received Friday)...the snow is a little thin in spots, and we still have some wet areas....the good thing is those areas are getting packed a bit, and we don't have loads of snow insulating them....so with the colder weather coming the end of this week...hopefully those packed down wet areas will freeze up nicely....Lake Nokomis is marked...reports of around 8 inches of ice (as of sunday)....again...trails are a bit thin in spots, and the railroad grade got a little snirty by sunday..VERY HEAVY TRAFFIC this weekend.......but the trails looked freshened up a bit with snow from last night. We need this upcoming cold snap to freeze up the wet areas..it should really help us...THEN....HOPEFULLY we get a decent snow. Be patient folks...a little cold and some snow could give us some excellent riding...things are falling into place.

How about the trails just north of Tomahawk? I.E. Northern Trails Unlimited and Forrest Rider trails? Typically they do a great job of grooming / laying down a great base.

Heading up on Friday, so I am anxious to hear some trail reports about those clubs. Fuzzy hasn't updated in few days. lol

Have fun up there Jeff. From what I have heard, they are rideable--at least by my definition. You know that "rideable" is a loose term for me though. :)

Say hi to the folks at Willow wood, Little Rice and Swamp Lake for me--been a few years since I've been up.

I have not ridden up there yet...but here is what Northern Trails was reporting as of yesterday:

1/4/17

What a busy week. trails improved greatly with a couple of small snowfalls. Trail base is ice with snow on top as we like. Grooming is continueing on schedule. trails are generally good to some fair spots. The willow was marked last week, so now lake riding is available.

Please be carefull on lakes, especially flowages. With water levels dropping, ice heaves are appearing in many places. there was an accident on the willow last weekend.

and here's an update from Northern Hornshoe:

We continue to receive small amounts of snow but nothing to improve the condition of the trails. We are still waiting for the big one. The groomer will be out every day this week. The railroad bed "trail 17" is in good condition with some thin spots. The remainder of the trails are in fair condition with rough and icy spots, so please slow down and drive cautiously. The trail boss will checking the ice depth on the Lac du Flambeau lakes this Thursday. If the ice is thick enough we will start to mark the lakes. " Remember stay off the lakes until they are marked." Check out the LDF webcam for the latest snow depths. It can be seen on the Northern Hornshoe Trails Snowmobile Club website at--- www.Hornshoe.org.
