Knight owls trails, basically Hwy J (Irma)and north to tomahawk, and east to Harrison Hills...opened at noon today.
Lakes are not marked (as of thursday)...trails are in early season condition, and are a bit thin in spots, however...the cold weather has really tightened up what is out there, much better than last week...as always we can use more snow...and the further north you ride, the more snow there is.
The cold weather has really helped the wet areas, and lakes...ive been getting reports of 10 plus inches of ice (but conditions vary from lake to lake), so hopefully the lakes will be marked soon...play it safe and don't cross lakes until they are marked.

Again the cold weather has done wonders...now we just need some more snow...just a couple inches would make the trails pristine...so start doing your snow dances.

Most of Zone 1 trails opened at noon Dec. 28th. Trails open are north of Hwy. 86 and Tomahawk east of 51 through the Harrison Hills area stopping at Hwy.17. Trail 15 will be closed at Intersection 28 south to Gleason.
Trail 17 south at the park and ride to Irma will be closed also. If Lakes are not marked STAY OFF, NOT SAFE.
Trails are in early season condition, use caution. Roads are bare. Really need more snow. Have not groomed yet.
Polaris Ride Command App
If you haven't downloaded the new Polaris Ride Command App check it out. We have and it is really easy to download and use with lots of great information.
Everyone with a smart-phone or other trail map device, we are asking you to please download the Ride Command App (It’s free) and try it the next time you’re on the trails. Play with the features. Download the Wisconsin trails. And check-out the pop-up ads some of or Club sponsors have requested. I predict that if you’re not that familiar with the trails, or want to take longer ride, you’ll love the App. and feel more secure knowing where you’re going! You can download from the Play Store or Apple Itunes.

As far as nNorthwoods Passage trails go, all trails are open and as far as I know all lakes should be marked. Like Attack Man said, the cold weather has frozen things up nicely. I ran the groomer with the drag from Somo (West of Tomahawk) North to Boomba and Wild North on Wednesday night and everything was froze tight. Last night I ran from Somo to town on the 86 trail and made it through everything. That usually doesn't happen this early!! I plan on running the rest of the 86 trail to Spirit Falls and the 19 corridor tomorrow during the day so I can see what I'm getting myself into. Snow is thin but we are able to fill some bumps and hole here and there so If you see bare spots here and there... that's whats going on. The normal run to town is a 3 hour run. Last night it took a little over 5 hours.
Big shout out to those that support our area clubs!! The Passage was able to purchase a new Piston Bully and drag this year and guess what?? I get to drive it!! Had training on Wednesday and was able to play a little during the week. We cant run it on our trails West of town until we run them with the older machine though. Understandable. Right now we are showing it off at the TLR Cup races at the Tomahawk speedway so stop down and take a look. Pretty Sweet!!

I made it from the west side of Merrill north to HWY H with the Groomer and never got wet in all the Swamps, I have never seen them froze up so good. If we get some more Snow I am ready to open 39, 39E and the X Trail around the west side of Merrill. We also have a New Trail connecting the City Routes at Pier and Taylor ST to the 39E Trail on the North side of Merrill.

There is a new Bridge about 3 miles North of Merrill on the 39 Trail. You can see it on the west side of HWY 51. Thank you, to everyone that worked to make this happen. This Creek crossing has been a trouble spot for years.

Cool...hey do u guys have a slush run this weekend out of the giraffee? (Wasn't sure of the date)

The Slush Run is January 13th at The Thirsty Giraffe. I don't think there will be too much slush this year!! What a nice change.

Just a little trail report from the Somo area ... As of Sunday everything has been gone through with the groomer and drag. I found a couple small wet spots
on the 19 corridor but it should be froze up by now. I also opened up a small beaver pond by Price Co. on the 10 trail (Barnies Pond) We'll just leave that one
for a while! We also brought the new Piston Bully out to it's new home for the winter. Be nice to have some snow to see what it can do. In the mean time we'll
keep trying to learn the new machine and drag and keep the trails flat for the upcoming STORM .........
