Our club and many of the clubs in northern Wisconsin are working feverishly to get trails open and groomed ASAP....we have tons of trees down again....it's not from lack of maintenance (as was suggested on a Facebook post...smh)...we have now bushed multiple times due to wind, freezing rain and heavy snow...while we are grateful for the wonderful early season snow...many clubs need help re brushing...I suggest you contact the club where you plan to ride, on their Facebook page, if you can help....they will tell you where and when they are meeting to work on trails...for my area contact Northwoods Passage, Northern Trails Unlimited, or Knight owls....there are loads of trees down with the heavy snow, and freezing rain we recently received...anybody who can help would be greatly appreciated ...especially if you have a chain saw, pole saw or nippers....again...until we get these trails cleared, the groomers can't get down them....if you choose not to help, and just want to ride that's fine...but temper your enthusiasm, and ride with extreme caution...there are obstacles under the snow that you just can't see...until we can get a groomer through....These trails are going to be very good....but it's going to take a little work

It’s been overwhelming the last month brushing trails. Without volunteers, it would impossible to ride any of the trails in. Northern Wisconsin. Most people have FB or other social media, so chances of them not knowing the amount of trees down over the last two storms is very slim. But yet how many were prepared by at least having a folding saw, or clippers, not many from what I have been seeing. I see groups riding right over downed limbs, I guess that’s the groomer drivers responsibility? I am not sure if people are misunderstanding the situation, or they think well I paid for a trail pass that covers my part. The volunteers day after day, week after week are now exhausted, and there is still work to do. Please contact your club where you ride and become a member. brushing Trails can be a lot of fun with the right group, but this year has been a challenge. sorry for the rant, i Just think many are not understanding how this work gets done.

I hear you katden. We have been wiping signs and picking up bigger sticks on the trail. The sticks have a ton of marks from studs and carbides from people driving over them. We were in sugar camp on Monday and a guy was out with a chainsaw brushing again,so I pulled over and said you need a hand. He said well Im not going to say no so the wife and I and my cousin got off of our sleds and picked up the stuff he cut down. In St. Germain we passed up a groomer and then came into a pine tree that would of hit his headlights so we grabbed my flip saw and cut it down and moved it before he made it there. Nice to have the snow and always neat to see a big storm but I think most clubs would take more 3-6 inch snow every 3 to 5 days and not have to deal with the carnage they have had to deal with so far this year.
