Feels like racing trailer houses

I worked on WPBA boats in the gulf 10 years ago. Before turbines and canopy pods. 138mph in a 40' triple engine was the closest thing that I can imagine to a shuttle lift off. When asked what is felt like I always told them to climb on top of a trailer house and imagine your self going 100mph!!! If you ever get the chance, try it one time (bucket list item #20 for me).

About five years ago a buddy of mine bought a confiscated drug running boat at a Sheriff's auction in Miami. It was not as exotic as the boat above but it went like a bat and he got it cheap.

Yeah, no kidding. Slap on one of those orange chest PFD jobbers.

I wish they had shown a vid of the boat actually doing 150. They would have been wearing a helmet with some real face protection.

The idea of running that fast is great in theory, but pretty tough to do in reality.

it is real. there are 2 helicopter turbines in that boat capable of 2000 horse each infact with the right gearing and props it could go 200mph and the real scaring thing is the engines wouldnt even be working hard.

Attac 06, I understand that the boat is technically capable of that kind of speed, but there is now way that boat was doing 150 anywhere in the video. Speeds around that mark become fatal very quickly. No one is going to take chances on water that rough.

This is cockpit vid around the claimed speed on smooth water.

Many people have been killed trying for the water speed records on smooth water. High speed boating is a dangerous sport. The person that posted the original video has a number of videos with some highly unlikely claims.

Doo_dr knows.;)

150

I have never seen a pleasure boat run that fast. I did watch a 43'Fountain blow apart 6 miles off of the Mississippi delta (Gulf of Mexico/New Orleans) after hitting wave. The boat was doing ~90 mph and hit a cross wave (wave breaks back into the ocean at a 45 degree angle after hitting shallow sand bars) causing the boat to land on it's side. The force sheered the deck right off the hull. There was a couple on board. He was blown out of the boat and the force of the water broke all of his ribs and blew his eyes out of their sockets. She was literally cut in half from the deck peeling off the hull. Makes you appreciate life a little more after you float two parts of a person onto your swim platform. I can tell you from experience that you would probably be deaf and blind if you didn't wear head/eye gear going over 100mph.
