There is a reason why barefooting works. Try throwing a rock out of a boat at 60 mph. Watch what happens.

Back in highschool we did alot of waterskiing. Barefooting was fun but for me it always was a extreme wipe out. Since I was 6' & 185lbs as a freshmen I always had to run on the high end of comfortable speed to foot (45mph on a rope). At that speed I could slide a long way across the top of the water or I tumble like someone threw me out of a moving car. One of my firends had a finger ripped right off his hand (at the knuckle) while footing. It some how dug into the water while he was skipping and his body kept moving along!!!!

When we were kids back in the 60's, we had a ski club on our lake called "The Cedar Skiers"

We did all the tricks back then (bare foot, 5 person pyramid's,ect) included me flying a kite with a 300 ft two rope on it.
It was a regular kite design, not the delta wing.
The faster the boat went , the higher you went.
If the boat lost power, you went down like a rock.
We used family boats and our biggest motors and boats back then were 16-18 feet and 75 and 60 hp motors.
We did shows up and down Lake Michigan in Wis and the U.P. but mainly on Cedar Lake in Manitowoc county.
