My grandparents grew up around Lake Superior and had a beautiful wooden carved replica of the Edmund Fitzgerald. They always would tell me about the wreck. Brings back memories.

I was out playing in that storm. In Sault Ste Marie. Just a handful of miles from where she went down.
We were jumping off porches and letting the wind catch us and carry us like well into the neighbors yards.
I have a scrap book of most of the newspaper stories from The Evening News (local paper) and The Detroit Free Press. Quite the event. I'll never forget.

Was on my way home tonight and that song came on which was a surprise but after it the dj mentioned it was 41 years ago. That song always gives me a chill when I first hear the tune.
