1995 xcr questions

hello, i just traded a 92 wildcat for a 95 xcr. it seems to be a bit of a frankenstien of parts with a x10 suspension, fox shocks, and a 600 tripple out of a 97 or 98 xlt. im wondering what the stock gearing is on a 95 xcr. also has anyone removed the airbox and run cone style filters off the carbs? also what is the best way to put new spark plug cables on? i tried to put new ones on and i can only put one on without taking the airbox off

i'd stay with stock airbox set up. Why do you need the whole cable? did the plug boots go bad? if so just unscrew those and put new ones on. Stock gearing i believe is 21 T top gear and 39 T bottom gear.

yeah, the guy who i got it from didnt seem to care about it at all. two of the three plugs were fouled and corroded to the head, and two of the plug boots were cracked. one was so bad that there were only a few wires wrapped around the top of the spark plug.

The airbox supports the carbs on the back side. If you remove the airbox, and do a bunch of ditch banging, it's a chance you will rip the intake boots on the engine side. That machine has fairly short intake boots so not as bad as some others, but still a chance.

ok thanks. i didnt think of that however is ti necessary to take the airbox off to put the new plug wires on? i cant think of any other way to do it and i didnt want to unless its necessary.

you can just put the boots on by themselves without taking off the wires, is there something wrong with yours plug wires?

there wasnt anything wrong with them before i took them off other than the boots being cracked. the new cables only cost a buck a foot and they gave me 6 foot of cable for 5 dollars. the new boots cost me twice that so i feel like using the new stuff just to make sure its all good.
