We did get some snow yesterday afternoon and evening....a little over an inch, and it has been lightly snowing on and off this morning...I got some updated info I wanted to pass along.

Northwoods Passage has been grooming, after a weekend of very heavy traffic...and as swampy as mentioned...trails are shaping up nicely where they are groomed...keep in mind there are still a few thin spots...but otherwise it's pretty good. (especially north and west of Tomahawk)

Knight Owls...cannot get the groomer down the 17 corridor due to the big hole in the swamp north of hog house...they are hoping with the cold weather this week (lows in the single digits and teens below zero), that it will freeze up, and they can get the groomer through...until then it's very rough, and that mud hole is tricky...so use CAUTION if you have to run corridor 17...The Harrison hills area was very rough out to lake alice yesterday...but there is good snow there... if they get it groomed, with the cold weather coming (plus a little fresh snow)... it should set -up nicely by the weekend.
I'm not sure what the deal was yesterday...I haven't seen trails in that area that lousy in a long time...I think part of the problem was the warm weather over the weekend (with heavy traffic)..which caused the snow to get soft and loose, and then the temp dropped causing everything to freeze up tight...making it rough. Either way...I'm not used to harrison trails being like that...they are normally excellent...and hopefully they will be by the weekend...I will check them out later this week and update how it looks.

Well...I came through Crandon ( and Monico)...towards Pelican Lake/Elcho, and back through the Oneida School forest....all was really nice....except the school forest..which had some thin spots and a few rough areas on Monday...otherwise the few hodag trails I was on were really good, and freshly groomed

i rode all over rhinelander fri Saturday nw of town was nice, east side good, was going to head south to pelican lake then Harrison but somehow made wrong turn on nice trail and ended up in three lakes( very crowded) over to sugar camp, back south, really pretty good. Some icy corners, occasional rocks, long stretches of sweet trails made up for that. Hope to be back up Friday, Saturday and then again next week for sure. Certainly rideable then, hopefully this weekend too

Rhinelander

Also, appreciate the updates. We'll also be making a trip up to Rhinelander next week. Hopefully, the conditions hold up. Haven't really ridden the area much and not in quite some years. Might have to make a post in the coming days asking for suggestions on routes and must stop places to patronize. Keep the updates coming!

Next friday?? Not this friday?? Depends on the weather...I'm sure they will get things groomed before thus weekend...we did get just about 3 inches of snow since Sunday night...so things have firmed up....it was real warm and soft saturday and sunday...by Monday the temp dropped and conditions did improve somewhat with our little bit of snow...I think this weekend will be ok, and if we get more snow, and it doesn't get too warm...it should be fine for next weekend...there is snow out there especially in the woods...it's the high traffic areas, and pine forest that are a bit thin...also...some of the swamps are rough... (especially down by me on the 17 corridor..which is the main trail between Tomahawk and merrill)
