Wow, that's kind of crazy. Seems to make sense though. I have two older Chev 3.1 liter cars (Monte Carlo and Lumina). MC with 140,000, the Lumina with 240,000. I'll give it a try, see if it seems to make a difference....

Have to do it....I bet Citgo Sea and Snow would work.

OH NNNNNOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please not 'which 2 stroke oil is better for your 4 stroke engine' discussion!

Hah, that would be funny though. Really tire of even seeing that thread, but still funny Fish!

Just a ploy to sell more 2 stroke oil. I run premix in the push lawn mower for yrs. only because I am to lazy to have seperate gas cans from the blower, thrower and wacker.

he clearly states the only requirement for the oil is that it is TC-W3 rated. it does not have to be Marine 2 stroke. ANY 2 stroke oil that is TC-W3 rated. I have been doing this to my big Ford Van (V-10) with 210,000 miles on it. this motor had a rough idle. it is now smoothed out. i have def seen a slight MPG gain. Motor does run/cruise smoother.
you would be wasting your money buying real expensive 2 stroke oil (like amsoil) or synthetics). these things are not neccessary. you can go buy it at walmart much cheaper, sand get the same benefits.

Very interesting reading. I am going to start doing this on my truck. What really does amaze me though is how stupid some people are on that forum. Asking questions like I just found out my tank is 15.7 gal, how much oil should I use? Let's see here, 1 oz. per 5 gallons, lets just say 3 oz!!! I guess they must have flunked math class!

While gasoline companies would put their own additives in the gasoline, I would worry about two things with long term use:

A) the additives in the two stroke oil might not blend well with those additives in the gasoline put there by the manufacturers perhaps with some adverse effects.

And

B) putting anything in your gas tank other than pure gasoline can eat some rubber, kill some gaskets, and very likely could plug your converter up.

Call me skeptical, but I would want to see someone use this stuff for much longer than 6-8 months before recommending it for use in your gas tanks.

There has been a few studies and research on this and synthetic oils are not good for this. TC-W3 ashless oil is best. Wally world oil seems to be the best oil for this so far. And its cheap.

Just wanted to get in on the ground level of the future 30+ page thread.

Summaizing the claims, adding oil gains power, fuel economy and makes the engine run better. Using that mentality and the law of more is better, we should all be increasing the ratio in our two strokes to burn even more oil. Right?

So riddle me this - Why do most performance minded folks lean out their oil on sleds? And don't start with the engines are different, blah, blah, blah. Start with Thermodynamics 310 - Advanced Combustion of Internal Engines and start penciling out the energy and equations. (Yes, I've had the class).

By a freak farm fuel tank accident 25 years ago, managed to run 50% diesel in a 455 big block for one tank and it doubled the fuel economy. There were some interesting side effects...Nothing is free.

Looks like I need to find something else to do with my $40 per gallon oil; on second thought, um no.

Next thread...................Putting a twist throttle on your Camry. LOL!

Actually I thought it was a good article. I may consider trying it out on one of my vehicles.
