2 Trailer Questions

1) In the dead of winter when the temps. drop the light cord on the trailer gets sooo stiff that it's a challenge to bend it around to plug it into the truck. Once it's plugged in it has come unplugged because it has no flexibility. Any suggestions.

2) When the trailer sits all summer waiting for snow to fly, I always get one or two of the brakes that seize to the drums and have to drag the trailer to a paved road where they start turning again. It has all new brakes and hardware 2 years ago. I tried backing the adjustment off a bit and that didn't help. Anyone else have this issue and/or a cure?

Our fifth wheel trailer has a winter grade wiring cord that is much more flexible. It's blue colored and it works very well. Search "cold weather trailer wiring" and you should be able to find something that will work.

As far as the brakes, see it you can get a hammer and punch into where the pads are sticking to the drums and see if you can break them loose. That's what we have to do to our semi trailers once in a while, but I'm not sure how your brakes look. If you remember, hook onto your trailer once or twice during the off season and just go down the road a ways to keep them loose. Even just moving it back and forth a couple times where it's stored will work too.
