2001 700 mxz high idle

My buddy sled
carbs cleaned and new jets ! hasn't been ridden in 3 years. rpms where at like 3800, turned idle down to 1500 1800. what would be the cause of a high idle like that! never changed idle from before. what else would make it idle high?

ok Ill look into that. do they have to be stress cracked or gapping holes ?

When running spray some carb cleaned or starting fluid on carb boots and also clutch side cranckcase seal. If revs up you know you are sucking air and getting ready for burn down.

if you had gaping holes you'd have a lot more to worry about than a high idle.

boots look good, sprayed carb cleaner and no bog! can it be on the mag side cylinder ?

Could be but hard to get to..it is behind stator...My guess is if you adjusted down and not raising on it's own that when apart to clean might have acidentally turned it and not realized it. Keep an eye on it and see how it goes.

Could also be last time it ran it was set for a lot warmer climate...not that it is pretty cold could have raised the idel some also...I doubt 2000 rpms but never know since you said it hasn't run in 3 years.

Yea, Also the sled has not been rode since march 2010, started few times here and there. just wondering if it needs to be rode to get oil in, and lube up some seals and gaskets got most of old gas out!
