I am considering buying an 01 550 ss,they guy tells me that it will run good for 100yrds then its like it runs out of fuel ??? any help would be appreciated

bad gas filter. Could be carb needle or pilot plugged. But I'd guess filter first. Sounds like it gets enough gas over a little bit of time to load the bowl, but then not quick enough to keep the bowl full. Best thing to do is just empty the tank, change the filter, check the gas lines, take off the carb and clean it good, then put it all back together with fresh gas, and give it a shot. When you have the carb off, check the pilot that it's not plugged, and check the needle and seat to make sure they are not plugged or damaged either.
If that all doesn't work, it's possible it's the fuel pump. Those are easy to change out too. All it takes is a little piece dirt or plastic to get in there..

It might be the line in the tank you have a 9 yr oid sled. Your owners manual might tell you to change after 5 yrs
