2002 Viper Project

I am the original owner of a 2002 viper with about 8000 miles on it. it has been great sled but has issues compared to today's sleds as we all know from a ride and comfort perspective. I do also own a 2014 viper as well which has been an awesome sled. For sentimental reasons I would like modify the 2002 sled to be more useful for me and my family. I am looking at adding a electric start and reverse, extend the tunnel and suspension to a 136 kit with new shocks. Back in the day FAST M-10 was a hot set up... not sure if that still stands. I also would like to add a heated 2 up for my kids to tag along. I know from a financial stand point this is NOT worth it but if I do extend to a 136 with a better suspension system will that over all help with getting beat up coming home after a long day of riding in wash board conditions? Does anyone have experience in making the 2002 viper a better ride?

My 2005 Vector ER with the stock rear skid was almost unrideable. I put a genuine FAST M10 (not the Polaris M10 which is different) in it and it turned into a BIG MILES trail sled. I added a tall seat to it and it made it even better. I revalved the front shocks too.

While I do not have quality miles on an 02 Viper, enough (negative) has been written about it that pretty much any change to it will be an improvement. Genuine FAST M10's are out there (look on eBay) and I'd revalve the front shocks much softer. Maybe different springs too.

A great source of info (if you already haven't been there) is the 2 stroke side of Totallyyamaha.com. I'd bet that just about any mod that could be done to an 02 Viper has been done and discussed on that board.
