For those who had all the recalls and updates done, has the motor be reliable? I heard the 4th reflash was suppose to be the last and I am curious with all the good deals out there on them if it would be a good buy or just a continued nightmare. Thanks

I bought mine 2 years ago. It had all the reflashes done and ran great. Then I had bad ground that somehow fried the cpu and voltage regulator. Those were replaced under warranty and now it runs even better. Horrible on gas but that could be the rider ;).

Overall, I love mine but you will get alot of negative feedback on the sled as well.

Best thing to do is get the VIN number and call a Polaris dealer. They can tell you everything that was been done under warranty.

Good luck!

Thanks Dave. The two I am looking at are both at dealers with around 2200 miles. One of the dealers is asking $5300which seems like a good price. What kind of MPG are you getting?

I have never really "calculated" it and it's hard to say because we run off trail alot but, I would estimate 10-13 on the trail. Mine is a switchback but I don't think that would make a difference.

For the record, I paid $5,600 for mine 2.5 years ago with 2,500 miles on it because that's when everyone was bashing that motor and they couldn't give them away. That being said, you can probably do a little better on the price if you work them right. I got mine from a private party.

Actually I'd have to say that 5300 is pretty low, I see most of them closer to 6k right now...

Don't forget, that's asking price. People still don't want that motor which makes it great for those of us who are willing to take that chance that we get a good one. I love mine!!

I just won't let Wayne follow me again! Stupid Bobcats!

I have a 2009 RMK 800. Ran great until just this last winter. Wasn't getting the top end RPM at elevation. Tried different things, then was told to try a lighter spring in the exhaust valves. Pulled the valves and noticed scoring on the piston on the mag side.

So, I fixed 'er up and and we will see what happens this winter. Note that prior to this, I had all the fixes done, and the most current flash. So it's hard to say if it was the 'old issue' or if it was me, or something else. It seemed to run just fine, just no top end (would no go above 7500 rpm). So, I say buy it but just keep an eye on it so you can catch something (if it happens) before it causes catastrophic issues.

82 mph is as fast as mine will go. Had all the updates done as well. Kinda frustrating especially after owning an 05 Fusion. Most likely my last Poo. Been loyal in all my snowmobiling(28 yrs). I have a 02 700 xp also that is by far the best sled I've owned. The motor is solid still will do 105 mph. The knees just can't take it anymore or I'd get rid of the Dragon. I guess what I'm asking is what can I do to this thing to maximize it's potential?

As dumb as it sounds, have the throttle cable checked. You can't ever assume that the dealer set the sled up right when they took it out of the crate.
