We'll just have to play the speed thing by ear. The initial plan is to go from Ely, Mn up the Gunflint trail to Atikoken, head north to Sioux Lookout, head south through Dryden, down through Ft. Francis/ International Falls and back to Ely Mn, about 820 miles. Looks like gas stops would be any where from 50 - 100 miles apart. It will be a blast no matter what, , assuming we/they have good snow. 3 years ago when we ariginally planned this the trails melted out 4 days before we left.
