2010 IQ Shift rear wheel kit

I just bought a 2010 IQ Shift. It doesn't have the rear outer wheels. What are people's thoughts on the rear wheel kit? I'm debating whether or not to put one in. If I do, how hard is it to install? Thanks

I have the same sled. I put the kit on after riding many miles without it. I think that it definitely helped me corner better. I have a 121" track.

It's a piece of cake to put on. Just loosen your track and loosen the wheels that are currently on it. Pop off the inside shaft and replace it with the shaft in the kit. Then put the outer wheels on snugly. Get your track to the right tension and tighten the wheels down. It's cake. Don't listen to Polaris's instructions on track tension. That's an unnessecary PITA IMO.

Did you get a good deal on the Shift?

I've put the rear wheel kits on both my sons shifts. I was more worried about something bending or breaking since both of them jump a lot. The price for the kit is in my opinion super cheap, it looks better, and must be more durable so why not. To install them loosen track, remove the outside wheels only, then push the old shaft out with the new shaft supplied in the kit, that way nothing will fall out of place. Install outside wheels and adjust track. Done. I'd also agree that polaris track tension is too tight, I adjust the 121's so you have one inch of natural sag, long tracks looser. Hey, dont forget to tape up the headlight adjuster on that model because snow can get sucked in there. Think Snow.

08 IQ Shift

Hey, Has anybody had any problems with the snow being injested thru the headlight or the adjuster, reason is last season the wifes seems to be running like crap kinda like loading up at idle then clears out then at idle barley runs they are known to have the oil pump stick at idle so we replaced it still does the same thing thinking maybe sucked a reed i checked the compression 125 and 130 any suggestions? Thanks

Check crank seals. You said it was an 08? meaning 600 carbed ho? Could be carb issue too and/or fuel filter.

Like Indy said, I'd check the carb boots. Just replace the fuel filter if you haven't already.

Thanks for the info everyone. Polarice - I bought it with 2000 miles for 47. I felt good about the price its real clean. A buddy bought a carryover a couple months ago for around 6 and I was thinking of doing the same thing, but decided to save a few bucks and go used. We just had our 1st child 6 weeks ago so I gotta save some coin! I think I'm going to do the wheel kit. Then studs after haydays and I think I'm done. I usually leave my sleds bone stock. Gonna clean the power valves and do intake boots this summer too.

On a side note, can anyone tell me how much of a pain it is to change the fuel filter on this sled? There's nothing in the manual, it says bring it to the dealer.

The fuel filter can be changed with a tool that you can buy at an autoparts store. It's on the left side of airbox. You have to remove the fuel tank cowl to get enough pressure behind the tool to remove the filter. P.I.T.A.

Don't forget about that filter - those have been blamed for many engine failures. They have to be changed much more often than you might expect (or at least than I expected).

Yeah definitely. I read all about people's problems after ignoring the fuel filter. It's a problem I do not plan to ignore. I bought it with 2000 miles and I'm confident the guy before me didnt do much for maintenance. And I bought it after the season so didn't get test ride it. Hopefully 2000 miles isn't too late on that filter...
