Go Hawks! That was awesome. I really think they were the better team. I want to know how Toews tops 2010.... I mean- an Olympic Gold Medal, Stanley Cup MVP, and the Cup itself- at the ripe old age of what? 22? 23? Geez! The city was going nuts- fireworks, honking, yelling (and I'm WAY out in the burbs). With about 5 mins left in the game (BEFORE they tied it up) I told my husband I felt like I was going to puke. I stood in my living room for the entire rest of the game. I was just so nervous. And then what an odd way to end it. It was a totally legit goal- can't argue it at all- just a little anticlimatic since no one except Kane knew it had gone in. Either way, it was awesome. Not looking forward to the rest of boring summer tv now that the Hawks are done for the year.
Toews is 22. He also was member of the UND team that won the WCHA Championship in 2006. He was a member of the world Juniors in both 2006 and 2007. The 2007 team won the World Championship. He is the real deal. He also has a little brother that will be playing for UND this season.
The OT goal was shot from an almost impossible angle. You could try that shot 100 more times and have it miss entirely or hit something. But it would have been a shame for the Hawks to lose as they were superior in all but about 5 minutes of the game. They deserved to win.
