2011 800 Etec

My friend brought up the Danner Sales demo this weekend, and I don't think I have ever been more impressed. The unlimited power, smooth clutching, and silky smooth ride of this sled is unmatched in the industry. I had it going 120 mph across the lake and I guarantee there is another 15-20 mph beyond that. It rides so smooth you really can't tell if the skis are on the ground. If you get the opportunity to ride one of these, it is a must-do.

Yeah, I might be stretching it a little, but it was still pulling at 120. Seriously, it is that light and scary fast!!

Sorry jroz 120 mph 800 etek. NOT. It is not what the dream meter says it is how fast you get to whatever top is maybe 105mph. Stock Doos always have been soft on top end mph you have to tweak them mostly clutches to get top end then the belt wears down a bit & top end gone again. That is how my doo 800 was. You want stock top end speed jump on a Yamaha 150 4s that keeps pulling & the dreameter keeps lying right into mid 120s too. Yams 150s usually a little quicker than doo 800s in stock pro drags. Glad you liked the doo demo.... 150 hp the way to go. BIG HP is like a drug & that is what you are feeling:>).

There is a dealer on Doo Talk that knows a lot about this etec and was talking about the top end speed. He said he thought the 115 was a real number

I can say I had it to 111 MPH according to the digital speedo, on the railroad grade between Hancock and Calumet. So yes it absolutely rips and is really smooth. Now I don't know how much of that was track slip, but the trail was froze pretty solid and seemed to be hooking up really well. I would have to guess it was fairly close to accurate within a couple MPH's or so. That was all she had, and it was plenty though.

Don't want to contribute to the pissing match I see brewing, but my dearly departed friend Tim did 114 on the radar gun on a XP800R. Saw it with my own eyes and made him do it again just to prove it wasn't a mistake. Maybe a factory freak, but big numbers Doo happen:)

clutching, clutching, clutching. Plenty of horses, gearing and clutching can do the rest. My 146 summit GPS speed at 91 downhill with the wind, so I can see a short track hit 110 or better. Yikes, sounds fast I must be getting old.

Don't believe the speedometer, use a GPS. Testing was done a while back and Ski Doo and Yamaha speedo's showed 10-15+ mph faster than actual. Polaris and AC where within 3-5 mph. Snodogg tested his 2009 Switchback and it was within about 3 mph of his GPS.

Everyone knows the dreameters are exactly that, the point was that he thought it was a good sled with plenty of power and silky smooth power. Why must you guys jump to the negative right away???
jroz, I'm glad you enjoyed your ride.

So we should let a guy make a comment that the sled will go 135-140 mph and just not say anything, right? I don't see that as jumping on the negative but telling the truth.

Like I said, everyone knows the speedos are not acurate. He was going off what it read at the time. The point had nothing to do with top speed, but that he liked the sled. No matter what the spedo said.

Don't know my real speed on my 800r xp renegade. Just that i pulled away from my buddies 700dragon like he was sitten there and he was dead pinned. Did this on gogebic last yr. Thats good enough for me.

Exactly, let's forget I brought up numbers at all. The thing rides like a dream, accelerates evenly from the hole all the way to where you are getting a little scared, and it was even more fun than I expected. Ride one, if you get the chance. But also, beware if you think what you have is the fastest thing out there.

All 150+HP sleds are fast you just got on one & felt the speed for the first time ....welcome aboard.lol Once you got the power it is hard not to have it.:>) But keep the numbers real like mspease said. Too much experience on this board that takes the demo rides on all sleds & knows the real deal. Doo NOT going to release a sled that does more then high 100 single digits mph. Both Yamaha & Poo had 4s for years that could do 120mph easy but did not gear them to go that fast. Liability issues up the ying yang to sell stock sled that is set up out of box to do 120mph. Where you going to use 120 mph sled not on public trails so on a lake is about it. Enjoy but be safe.

If you change the gearing, different clutch weights, add force reed valves, and new pipe, maybe 120 mph, these 800 sleds are fast from the hole shot, but not the top end 110 mph if your lucky. I had a slower hole shot but way more top end on the triple's in the 90's.

163.9

Of course this in no way is official, and of course Ski Doo would never endorse this but a little mouse told me 163.9 hp for the new 800 E-tec, I believe these figures can be substantiated via dynotechresearch.com

Getting that power to the track is still all clutching etc. but the power seems to be available.
