2011 F8 Arctic Cat Starter issues

smucks

New member
Ive had nothing but trouble with the starter on my sled since it was new. Dealer replaced the starter motor once and ive replaced the ring gear (attached to the clutch) and the bendex and spring assembly twice. Sled would always start but when it gets bad enough the bendex won't line up right with the ring gear and it seizes tight, clutch will not move. It sounds awful when it starts, like a gravel crusher.. I know there has been issues with starters on these sleds but any help or tricks would be great. I think im at the point where this will be pull start only..

Thanks

Don't know if you ever had your starter off, isn't anywhere to shim. Washers behind the keepers are just the right thickness to allow for the starter gear and shaft to stay in place . This is just a very poor design don't think you can ever get it right. Arctic paid for my last ring gear, shaft and starter drive but not again! I'm going to fix mine this summer w/ new parts , not a fun job, lucky if you can a year out of it
