2012 Cat Skids

I was looking at the details of the 2012 cats. Looks like the Trail sled, crossfire and M all have different skids. It looks like only the trial sled is coupled. The Trail sled and the crossfire have sway bars.

Is the new crossfire closer to a mountain sled than a trail sled? Seemed like the old one was a fairly capable trail sled if you added the coupling blocks they took off the last couple of years. I'm at least 2 years from my next sled, but I was thinking the crossfire 1100 could be a great all-around do-anything sled. With gas prices going up, I would almost need a 4 stroke for big mile days. If the weight is down, it would probably be a pretty good sled off trail as well. Another factor is that I'm a little scared of the EPA-compliant 2 strokes so I like the idea of the 1100.

gotta remember the fact that a 4-stroke will last 4 times as long. Crank sits in a bath of oil, what's there to worry about?

This is a good question. The web site shows the M style skid on the XF without the option of installing coupler blocks. It just looks like a short version of the M skid. It would be nice to know what we really will see on the sleds.

On the early CF sleds the rear skids were better on trail vs later M style skids. I also added coupler blocks to my CF skids. I do not even see a place to mount blocks on the new skid pictures.

That's the impression I got also - it's a shorter mountain skid in the back, and has a sway bar in front. But that's just from looking at the website..
