2012 Polaris Switchback Ski's vs. USI X2 Triple Threats?

Got a new 2012 Switchback 800 Pro-R for the upcoming season. I was surprised at how nice the stock ski's look on this sled. I had a pair of USI X2 Triple Threats on my previous sled and liked them quite a bit. My question is how well do the stock 2012 Polaris Switchback ski's perform? In other words, should I consider trying them out OR should I just move the USI X2's over to the new sled on day 1? Thanks! Jim

How skis look and how they perform are 2 different things????? Sidehillers suck, SLP powder Pros rule. Gripper Skis are fantastic also. Don"t let a ski name sway you. It is called marketing.

On the other hand I am not going to drop $400 on a pair of skis if I think they are ugly... jmo

USI X2 is an amaizing ski. Stock does not compare. Make the swap and never look back!

Maybe the new skis are better than the old stuff Polaris threw on the sled but if like the old, they were junk. I would try them out and switch them with the USI units and make the decision from there. If you like the switch over, sell the new ones and recoop some of your money. I have had several polaris sleds and the skis have never been anything but marginal to poor.

On the other hand, Powder Pros were a huge improvement. Of course it does depend on how you intend to use the sled...$400 buys a bunch of gasoline for the beast.

I already know I like the USI X2's because I had them on a Crossfire the last 2 seasons. It just looked like the stock ski's had come a long ways from what they used to be but I am leaning toward throwing the USI's on the new sled. Then when I go to sell/trade down the road I will have a brand-new set of ski's to put back on. Leaning that way anyway unless someone posts something that says the stock 2012 Polaris ski's are really good. Jim

The stock gripper skis work very well IMO. I am a X2 guy, but on the pro, I would run stock unless I had a free pair of X2's to try.

If you can wait until the snow flies I'll tell you. I have a brand new 2012 switch 600 pro r. I believe it has the same skis as the 800. I bought it as a leftover and can't try it until it snows!
