thanks in advance! I'm new to the rmk world, what is the idea behind not having adjustable straps?it appears that there are no extra holes in them and owners manual doesnt even talk about them!???

My 09 IQ does not have any adjustment in the limiter strap I believe with the rider forward design it's just not needed. Not knowing any better over studded my IQ and ended up putting an addtional hole in the limiter strap with a core bit for studding. Chances are you will not need to adjust it. I have found you can have great effects on handleing with shock spring pressure and shock clicker adjustment and the limiter strap was the last option. I wanted to correct a sled that pushed really bad.
I later found that the carbides, Woodys Slimjims were the problem I replaced them with a set of studboy sharper bars and it really helped. I may go back to the stock limiter strap location this year to see if it handles any better it is very twitchy now.

Assuming you will use the RMK for off trail, you definitely want to let the sled "rock" back when you gas it to take advantage of the longer track in the loose stuff. Doing that means you will steer more with weight transfer than you would with the skis which are far less effective in powder than on the trail.

On the other hand, if you intend to do more trail riding then you will want the straps to limit the rock back and keep the skis on the snow.

If nobody told you loosing the straps is not the only adjustment for your riding conditions and style. You will want to increase tension on the front shock too.

I think it is week that no oem have the bolt attached to the limiter any more. I have had 5 cats in the distant past with that set up 5 min and u were done.
U can buy a aftermarket set up like that still. but it is what 2 bucks from the factory to make it adjustable.
as for the new sleds I would bet 60% of the guys who own them dont know what a limiter strap is let alone what it dose.
I find it shocking the number of guys u run in to who drop 13k on a toy and have no idea how to set it up. just how to use the lever on the right.

My '09 144 rmk shift had the adjustable limiter strap, I agree with the drill a new hole. My '12 and '13 doesn't. I like the ability to get more ski pressure for the trails when needed. I am sure the 144 skids are the same as an 09 I am going to see if you can order the '09 straps?

Just thinking as I would rather be riding,
