There are many factors to look at, first being the motors. The etech is a more complex engine than the polaris but in terms of performance there about the same, the etech may squeek out another mile or two per gallon but there not that much better than anyone else's motors. I would say the Doo motor would take first place and poo second. Handling, XP platform is going on 5 years, good stuff here but not as good and the new Polaris which in on the 2nd to 3rd year of that design. I have heard nothing but good things on both sleds so I go back to who you purchase the sled from, what sleds to your friends ride (they have spare parts, belts windshields, share the same oil, etc) One other note Ski doo parts are expensive and sometimes harder to come buy, oh yea Polaris is made in the USA if you care about that. These is just my thoughts

i am a union man so i do like made in the usa, i had a 08 gsx loved it, my buddy has a 800 pro r i rode that, excellent fast as ****, what is making my decision to buy the polaris is my ski doo dealer refuses to take my 05 fusion in trade, and my polaris dealer is giving me $3800 it is mint with a new motor, not rebuilt, i did alot of research on the adventure came up with good reviews as well as the ski doo, the ski do does get 1-2 mpg better, but the ride on the switchbask has alot of talk, all good, it boils down to the doo dealer not willing to work with me, i will let everyone know how i like it after this weekend in wakefield MI. thanks for the help.

Hey, I will be in Wakefield area this weekend as well, do they have demo rides or something, who is the Poo dealer your buying from, I was also thinking of getting a new Pro R 600-800 but have not rode one yet. Still on the IQ-600 which I like, I was also think of getting a Doo 600 TNT carb for my son or another POO IQ for him. I look forward to the results and opinions on my choices

The GSX SE is, I believe, the XR chassis. Similar in track length to the Renegade. Couldn't tell you how much difference between the XP and XR. I'm still riding an 05 GSX 600 SDI, 9,100 miles and the worst issue I've had with it has been the handwarmers giving up the ghost. Almost everybody says the XP and XR are way ahead of the Rev in ride quality, and I think the Rev rides great so they must be phenomenal.

Not a Poo guy so I don't know the answer to this....do they still use Fuji motors, and if so, are they built in the U.S.A.?

fat daddy i am dealing locally with bills service center stratford and country sports wis rapids, a good dealer in ironwood is cloverland motors talk to gary, he gave me a good price out the door, but i am buying 1 today because we are leaving in the morning for wakefield. if you see a guy on a ski doo gtx with a wheel chair strapped on the back that will be us, if you run into us you could gladly try my venture out. because the ski doo dealer would not take my fusion in on trade, it made my choice real easy to buy and try the new polaris out.

I just got home from my first ride of the year and put 700 miles on my new Adventure and I love it! Best mpg I saw was 12.5. I too have read every possible review on these and it's all been good. The 600 eTec is an excellent engine but I have never owned one. My buddy has one and it's been very good to him. They get more than 1-2 mpg more than the Poo, it's more like 4-6 mpg. I don't think you can go wrong with either one.

One of the snowmobile rags did a comparison between the Adventure and the GSX etec 800R SE and they all picked the Polaris. It was in the January issue of SnowGoer.

Your right, the doo 600 etec easily gets 4-6 mpg better than a poo 600 cfi. Both great engines, I own them both

View attachment 29740 i rode 400 miles in the up there is nothing i do not like, the sled is awesome on rough trails, handles sweet fuel was 14.5- 16mpg depending on condition and speed a+++++ i am glad i made this choice, several people rode it and they liked it better than the xp chassis we had 3 of them, overall great sled.. used a quart or less of oil.

Good choice! The best mileage I saw was 12.4, but I still ride pretty hard at this advanced age! Be sure to buy the center bag for the rack, you will use that most of the time and the saddlebags for longer trips. Glad you like it, I sure love mine!

He wasn't even asking about a 4s! Bottom line is the new Poo rides and handles better than the Ski Doo IMO and "several" others from his group that rode both.

67rs,

What did the Doo owners think of the ride and handling?

doo 600etek will do much better on gas & oil than poo600 if that is important to you & range very is important to me. Some GSX have adustable air shock from the bars also very important to me to adjust rear on the fly & easliy worth a grand more for better shocks. Also some GSX have heated seat not important to me but my bud luvs it! 1model Adventure an a bunch of GSX models including 4s so difficult to compare apples to apples. To me the GSX 4s 1200 would be the best choice good mpg, last forever & has every acess. you need out of box so need neeed for add ons.

WD, that would be the SE -- adjust-on-the-fly air shock, heated seat, tilt steering (I think), and longer track. LE has the standard electrical goodies minus the aforementioned.

He did say GSX SE so not off topic at all comes in 2S & 4s & with heated seat, better shocks & adjustable air shock thus $1000 more. 2s or 4s features the same.
